Custom Worldspace Issues - LOD and Map

Post » Sun Aug 30, 2015 4:12 pm

I've finally got a custom worldspace that looks halfway decent, but I've hit on a few issues...

--Main Issues-

I've generated my LOD, but apparently it has 'broken' something in the textures? I have a base-texture for my worldspace of Snow01.dds, so that it is all nice and white, and before it look like that as far as the eye could see. Now I've got my LOD set up, not only the LOD quite dark, but beyond a radius of maybe 1,000Units about the PC the ground becomes brown-ish. It is like the PC is standing in a spot-light that is the proper texture.

Experimenting, this mountain seems to show up on my LoD, as well--like, if I look in that direction, I can see it from miles off, but it disappears once I get closer.

LOD seems to appear really close? Not sure why this is... It's like, my LOD water (I've just changed the height) appears about 1-cell ahead of the PC... What have I done wrong here?

The LOD itself also looks quite dark, but I think I've seen references to this elsewhere, so will hopefully be able to find an answer to that on my own, but if anyone can point me in the right direction, it'd be great

Secondly my Map... It's mostly OK, but in one place there's a random 'mountain' made up of cloud-texture. The actual physical location is no higher than anywhere else in the worldspace (relatively), but on the Mapscreen it looks like a random huge mountain should be there... Any idea what this might be, or what could be causing it? There's only 2 statics in the entire worldspace, and neither of them are anywhere near that position.

--Trivial Issues--

The clouds around the edge of the map--minor thing, but is there a way to remove them, at all? Not a big issue, I'd just rather not have them there, personally

Thanks for any help y'all can give me :)

Did you generate it from the CK itself? Might be wrong on this, but I don't remember ever hearing about the tool being fixed; LOD generation in the CK is (or was in that mentioned case where I'm wrong) broken and every landmass mod I Know about has gotten it's heightmap and LOD done through a workaround, using 3rd party tools.

Nope, I used Oscape to generate LOD, and tesannwyn to create the worldspace; I have modified the Worldspace settings in the CK, though, to fix a few issues with the water-heigh, climate and the ground texture not being correct (I'd originally set them via Tes5Edit). Could that introduce these issues?

Clouds around the map are determined in the Worldspace properties window, near the bottom I think. Make sure that's blank and you're not parented to Tamriel worldspace and they should be gone.

Brown land LOD is a bug in Oscape that was never fixed. The solution is to simply duplicate all the ground textureset form, so that the records exist referenced in your ESP/ESM when you generate. I.e. find "LandscapeSnow01" and duplicate/rename it to "LandscapeSnow01CDM", then open "LSnow01", and change the texture reference to point at your new duplicate TextureSet. Snow will now properly appear white. Repeat for all textures used in your mod. (To be safe, do them all!)
