Customizable autosave

Post » Thu Sep 08, 2011 1:48 am

@DCDeacon You should win without vote .Read about checkpoints in dongeons ( G4TV ) ,we can't save anymore ?

@JeanLavince You can save anywhere. We don't do checkpoints. We now have a 3 autosave system though.

@DCDeacon Great thanks for answering all of our questions ! So the game autosave on 3 alternate saveslot like inTwo worlds 2 ?

@JeanLavince alternates between 3 slots. You set time interval (5, 10, 15, etc) as well as if it saves on sleep, wait, etc.

I think it's a great idea.

Not exactly the customizable and seoerate saving per character people have been asking for, but the time interval thing is new.

Needed to be done - especially with these games and sometimes glitches - great move.

Considering I would (at times) get carried away with what I was doing in OB and forget to save before crucial situations, having a timed interval auto-save feature (that I can set) is much appreciated.

ok, so... we can set the autosave feature to save every 5, 10, or 15+ minutes as we play?

...and it alternates between three different autosaves incase you need to go to an earlier point than the last autosave, i guess?

well, thats definitely interesting... maybe i'll try it out.

yeah, its awesome...

...what does it mean?

It means that the autosaves system cylces through autosaves, which means you'll have three autosaves at once. That way, you can go back further to an old autosave if you encountered a glitch before your new autosave.

I think.

And what's so different about them? Deus Ex does not have a perfect autosave system. If you pass twice in a row in the same "autosave spot", you got two similar autosaves.
I actually prefer Skyrim system.

Hopefully it saves in the background, cause if floating letters show up on my screen saying " autosaving on slot 1 " every 5 minutes, it'd get annoying,

You actually think we won't be able to manual save?

That would be like... the dumbest thing ever duhhhh!!! :cake:

Sound great! I play with autosave turned off though and make my own saves, usually rotating between about 3. It's nice to have the options though.

This is actually better (in my opinion). In Skyrim you will have current auto-save, previous auto-save, previous-previous auto-save, AND as many manual saves as you want.

Hopefully it saves in the background, cause if floating letters show up on my screen saying " autosaving on slot 1 " every 5 minutes, it'd get annoying,

My guess is that it will be like it was in Oblivion; You will get a notification in the top corner of the screen, probably along the lines of "Autosaving...".

EDIT: Anyone who played Fallout 3 or Fallout: New Vegas with mods might recognize this idea from Cipcis' Autosave Manager (CASM). Nice to see some of the more useful, fan-made features are being implemented.

Cycling autosaves is definitely a plus and one less mod I'll need . Now they just need to confirm a dedicated save button instead of quicksaves.

Sounds good but I will turn it off unless they fixed the autosave issues from the previous games.
