Maybe we'll be able to upgrade Codsworth a little bit but Brad doesn't forsee anything more than that.

Welcome to the forums, Bobblehead and Brad. I hope you don't mind sharing a fishy stick. Here you go:

I vote I wish. I guess we will have to wait and see.

Only if it's an exact duplicate of HK-47. If not, rather just shoot 'em.

I wouldn't really like the Protectrons as a follower. Sure they're amusing when they are saying things like "Tick-ets" or "Friendliest town a-round" but I would much prefer either a Gutsy/Handy (Codsworth) or maybe a Synth intstead.

Not an issue for me, but it could make a good mod if robot modification is not a part of the game.

I like the idea of upgrading Codsworth, either to be a better Mr Handy support bot or to become a combat oriented Mr Gutsy.

ie) Improved support Handy gives you a choice of, let's say, mobile crafting and/or first aid. However, weapon load out is limited to the flamer, saw, and/or perhaps a laser.

The Mr Gutsy upgrade greatly reinforces Codsworth's armor and gives him the choice of Flamer/incinerator, plasma, lasers, Cryo, pulse/EMP/tesla, etc. Also a "ripper arm." However, this upgrade forgoes the crafting bench/medic abilities.

If I could give Codsworth a ripper arm I would be sooooo happy. "Good day sir Mr. F***Face sends his regards". Proceeds to tear into Raider Scum.

I want to be able to give them custom paint jobs, buckets on their heads, glue random stuff on them, and set them free in my settlements.

Maybe if you romance Codsworth he'll let you...tinker with him.

As a fan of Robco Certified, I would be thrilled to see perks that enabled the PC to create and repair robots as disposable companions. I don't actually expect it, but it would please me.

But then, if BGS doesn't include it someone else will. I'm sure I'll have my robot army ready to go should the AntAgonizer ever show up at my settlement.

Codsworth for FISTO mk2.0

Now with a more charming accent, bicentennial emotional attachment, and 50% more arm to provide for superior robo-love. xD

You've got me thinking that it would be neat if we could assemble our own companion (male or female) like in the You Tube video, Quantic Dream's Kara. Provided our skill were high enough.

If I was programmed with feelings, I would be sad. :sadvaultboy: I do hope we can modify bots (or make them temporary companions with robotics expert). Would be fitting for both the setting and the new crafting focus.

A Protectron security guard like Deputy Weld would be cool. "Move... Along... Please"

That would be awesome. I would make a Mr. Handy with 2 mini-gun arms.

They are saying that the robotics perk is likely unlocked at 8 of intelligence. I would hope that if you had to spend that many SPECIAL points that you could use the robot as a companion. If not then at least as a protector of your settlement.

Yeah, considering the way Special is set up now, they better give some pretty cool abilities for high categories. Simply sneakily deactivating robots won't be worth it, especially if I had to sacrifice my agility (and thus stealth) to get to that intelligence level.

aparently you can take a Rank 10 perk at any time IF you have the stat for it, so I doubt they will be that game breaking.

Customization of companion robot's what? Appearance? How can you forget a word in a title?

I definitely don't expect for any one perk to be game breaking. However, I also don't expect those perks to feel like a gimmick either. They should be well fleshed out and contribute to my roleplaying experience as a genius or a master at agility etc. etc.

That would be really cool, if it's not in the base game then maybe they could make it a DLC or add it with mods.

It should be in the game. because then you could role play as a robot scrapper.

Upgrading the robot make some sense as we can upgrade human followers with armor and weapons.

I have a dream that one day I will have a customizable Securitron. Although with them being on the other side of the country I'd happily settle for a Mr Handy.
