Cut-scenes

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 6:15 am

What kind of cut-scene do you want in Skyrim. Relate your answere to a game that has cut-scenes such as halo reach, saints row 2, cod, etc. Btw sorry for not explaining in detail... I'm not talking about where, when, or how many cut-scenes there are, just the dynamics, overall feel of the cut-scene, and the camera angle and camera movements.

This isn't going to end well. Especially with those examples. No thank you.

I want ONE or TWO cutscenes, not more. I don't want my interaction to EVER be stopped. All we need is an intro, and maybe one at the end of a very important quest (probably the main quest lol)

And no, I won't relate it to a game. you don't need an example :)

I expect a cut scene at the very beginning of the game.

I could probably tolerate a cut scene at the end of the main quest, though I'd prefer not to have one.

And that's it. I don't want to see another cut scene, of any type, anywhere in the game, at all, ever.

Not many of them, and only if they are incredibly well done and awesome. If anything, not even cutscenes, just 'scripted events that occur to the player' like when you are kidnapped by the Enclave in Fallout 3.

I don't mind cutscenes - i would really enjoy it if Esbern were to give some history to the player and they were flashbacks of events occuring during Morrowind and Oblivion - cutscenes as a story device can work really well.

Well if you want a game reference, Morrowind would be the most in amount. And I mean vanilla. As cool as the werewolf dreams were, I'd have much rather read a beautifully detailed diary entry recounting the dream. Let the imagination fill in the gaps, you know? (Sorta like what they did in the MQ) An intro cutscene is acceptable, and maybe one at the end of the main quest. One of the things I like about the Elder Scrolls series is that I can do as much or as little as i want. Cutscenes add linearity. While it works in some games, it does not have a place here.

You sure you don't want cutscenes like CoD?

bethesda games dont have many cut scenes, probably one to enter the game and one to finish it up
I think the reason that they dont include cut scenes as much is becuase nothing can process during it

Only cutscenes at the beginning, and after completing an epic questline like the Main Quest or one of the Guild Quests, like an epilogue saying "The Mages Guild prospered and blah blah blah" That would give a greater feeling of accomplishment for having done these things.

One for the game's opening, one for the finale of the main quest, and no others whatsoever. I've got a DVD player in the living room for when I want to watch movies.

I like cutscenes. I think there should be a pre-rendered cutscene in the beginning at least, and then some seamlessly integrated ones at key points in the game that are done in the game itself. Halo Reach did that just fine. But definitely not pre-rendered cutscenes all over the place. That's more for linear games.

I'd rather not sit through a werewolf/vampire transformation cutscene.

Pretty much like the other games. One at the beginning, one at the end of the main quest, and maybe one or two at important parts of the main quest, if at all necessary. Morrowind had one half-way through the main quest at that one cave with Azura and all that.
I also wouldn't particularly mind any at the end of faction questlines, but those aren't needed.

None of them should be longer than a couple of minutes, tops.

Two, beginning and ending. Having cutscenes for a roleplaying game that's open world just makes it seem that more linear. I'd rather have them work on having quests have 10 unique ways to beat them, than having a cutscenes that just points out the fact that Everythings so linear and a to b to c.

Shoot me please if there is dragon cut scenes galore.

Maybe a couple quick first person cutscenes like CoD. Nothing drastic, just for example:

How about in Oblivion when we watched Martin fight Dagon? Instead of just standing their completely still, have us shrink back in awe, with camera effects similar to CoD.
Flame me, idc.
