Cutscene audio problem?

Post » Wed Nov 10, 2010 6:03 am

I installed the game and played it for about 10 minutes because thats all the time i had, closed it and left my computer on until i got back 30 minutes later. Started up Crysis 2 again and the first thing i noticed was that the intro Crytek and EA videos both had 'glitchy' sound. it was crackly and broken up. I decided not to continue but to restart the campaign to see the NYC video again but when the image came up the audio (two sports reporters talking i think) got all broken up and crackly again.
This shouldn't be a problem with my hardware since i have an i7 950 @ 3.6Ghz, 6GB 1600Mhz DDR3 and a GTX 570 so im wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem. is this a bud or something in the game that my be fixed?
in the mean time im going to try reinstalling the game to see if anything changes..

i have that problem as well, just not in the opening videos - whenever theres one of those cutscenes before a level, i get really crackly audio, which is kinda annoying because they tell you the story.

Try alt-tabbing, worked fine for me.

I Had the same issue. After searching and trying I found my issue was my CPU clock. Clocking my CPU back to its standard clock returned my sound to normal. This is probably the only program I've ever used where my overclock caused an issue.

Hopefully that helps :/
If not, well I know how you feel. I spent hours trying to fix this. Crytek did a poor job on optimizing the PC Crysis 2.

Some people suggested changing sampling rate, disabling enhancements, using Creative Alchemy on X-fi cards (this is an FMOD game so don't expect results from Alchemy), running in a compatibility mode, and naturally updating drivers.

Windows 7 64bit

Asus X58 P6T
Intel i7 930 2.8ghz (was overclocked to 3.3ghz)
Onboard Realtek HD Audio/Creative Soundblaster X-Fi Extreme Gamer (Had sound issues on both)
EVGA Nvidia Geforce GTX 480
Corsair DDR3 6gb(3x2gb sticks)

Good Luck
