Cyrodiil and Oblivion Cities

Post » Sat Feb 15, 2014 4:55 am

ESO being 1000 years ago since the events from Oblivion and Skyrim, are the cities Cheydinhal, Bruma, Chorrol, Anvil, Kvatch, etc there??? i mean, When we go to PvP in Cyrodill, does that cities exists at this time? If so, it would be awesome to find ppl and pvp in these places. :D

Some of them are, some of them aren't. Nick Konkle and Brian Wheeler have both listed off the main city/town/village areas in Cyrodiil in a few interviews, but I'm not tracking them down for anyone.

its not 1000 years since, its 1000 years before. those cities arent necessarily built. Its been mentioned before, + theres plenty of lore in game that confirms it (which we cant discuss because of nda)

The cities and towns of Cyrodil were constructed to accomodate their neighbours, If you played the original games you can see this transition when you go from town to town at this period in time however the Imperial province is just forming and a stable empire wouldn't be formed for at least another 500 years it'd be safe to say that right now the province of Cyrodil is in turmoil and a finite land of green spotted with dunegons and ayleid ruins. I'd say Kvatch, Anvil and Skingrad are very much there but we'd have to wait and see I suppose.

What I heard/read from interviews is that anvil and leyawin are not in. Inb4 errmagerrd that makes Cyrodiil too small! Cause it is still huge. Bigger than the Cyrodiil from Oblivion.

Chorral and the neighboring Priory are there. Hackdirt is there too. Much different than in Oblivion of course.

No Anvil? That doesn't make sense to me to be honest you'd think that the port cities would come first because that's where commerce comes from, Unless of course the IC recieves all its supplies via the Niben bay. To me it always seemed as though Skingrad prospered because it was nestled between Anvil a port city and the Imperial city but maybe it prospered because of its fine wines I didn't know wines and cheeses were that profitable.

Well judging from this released or hypotethical map (cant say if its accurate or not , that may break nda, but i found it on the internet so ill base my saying off it): http://elderscrollsonline.info/images/site/gameplay/tamriel-map.jpg

It would be safe to assume that Anvil, Kvatch and Leyawiin will not yet be in-game because they are simply found on territory that isnt there yet (in game) - maybe Bravil also, it would be just outside the greensih zone (im assuming thats the in game cyrodiil territory). The rest would depend on whether they are there or not. Seeing as Skyrim was the first non-mer established province, it's fair to assume Bruma would be in, probably the other two northern towns (Chorrol and Cheydinhal). The rest, might be a mix of not yet fully ruined Aeylid settlements and the beginings of the towns we do know as well as simply ones new to the tes lore?

anyone else like my nda backflips? ...so stupid

Oh it excisted: http://uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Anvil
Use that site to search for lore.

I just said they aren't in the game. Thw devs have kept out several pieces of the world, to be implemented in future expansions. Look at this site to see what is in, and look for the interactive map. http://elderscrollsonline.com

EDIT: I have been ninjad :P and yea kvatch also is not in.

They limited the areas of Cyrodiil that you could access in the beta. If they had Google Earth in Tamreil, the shape of Cyrodiil in the beta looks nothing like the Cyrodiil in Oblivion.

Im not talking about beta dude since that would be breakimg NDA. Im talking of what I have heard and read from the devs. It has been made clear that leyawin, kvatch and anvil are not in. Like they did with cities in other provinces. I posted this before you know.. scroll up a bit.

I'm a little dissapointed to be honest. I wanted to see what Kvatch looked like before it was raised to the ground.

Will say this: The version of the Imperial City in Arena differs significantly from that in Oblivion. :D

Tamriel however has not changed. Geographically towns should still make sense, theyve never (to my knowledge) contradicted themselves geographically in games before, so anvil that is on the western shore and leyawin which is far south in the niben bay are most likely out for now. I doubt towns are going to start hopping around just because political borders change...

I'm merely posting what is common knowledge by now. The only difference (to me) is that it has confirmed with my own eyes.

But you're wrong. All the land is there, also on the map. It just isn't playable at launch. Maybe take a look again at the interactive map.

No. Much of the map is inaccessible. The land may be there but it isn't visible. When you get to Cyrodiil and actually run around the map and do mapview, you'll see.

Break more nda. And dude:http://elderscrollsonline.info/images/site/gameplay/tamriel-map.jpg
Yes, it is one the map, but no, you cannot acces it. Just like lots of other areas in tamriel. This is the last time Im gonna bother. If you want to be dissapointed when the game launches, thats fine.

What would be really cool is if the game did really well , lasted for a good 10 years, and they went and did content OUTSIDE of tamriel like yokuda, atmora, akavir, and aldmeris.

favourite TES map: http://www.imperial-library.info/sites/default/files/gallery_files/minibigmaproadslore31gv.jpg

so detailed... and its OLD.... you can see how they stick to their map throughout the games because most of the cities in all games are actually close enough to their location on the map. (obviously some discrepancies in towns existing or not exist, but those that do are in the right spots!) and this map dates at least back to Morrowind. I've got it on my old pc and file date is 2004.

I mean I guess Ebonheart in ESO would actually be old ebonheart on map but thats just logical seeing as this is a long time before. But you know... this is just me getting nerdy

/concur.

I'd also like to see the Arena to be there because it was one of two cities in Cyrodiil that had one, maybe a potential PvP feature in a future patch....?

As for the topic itself most of these cities won't be as large, I'm sure, especially if they keep getting sacked by the marauding PvPers there to benefit in their taking of the Imperial City. However I'm sure we can expect to see what they were like hundreds of years before what we know them as now. If there's quests, nearby villages we recognise and the land is similar to the Cyrodiil I once knew I'm bound to fall in love with ESO.
