cyrodiil from skyrim

Post » Wed Dec 14, 2011 6:07 pm

i read the article about the other region landmasses around skyrim, so decided to noclip up there myself and take a look...
it was weird.

there were still invisible walls? how do i get through those?

anyway, with a couple of mediocre-ly placed print-screens and some half-assed photoshopping, this is what i came up with:

http://www.cklu.ca/other/CyrodiilFromSkyrim.jpg

i am a very lazy man, and im sure i couldve done better
it was pretty easy to whip this up

thing is, i matched the landmasses up almost exactly
its kind of awkward as they are not exactly the same shape, but its pretty darn close: http://www.cklu.ca/other/skyrimshot.jpg

so maybe somebody with a little more patience can make a better one

thats the one
it was kind of a creepy article for some reason

im very curious as to why they wouldve put extra work into modeling these obscured regions
you cant even see them from any particular mountain view

its going to be interesting

For some people the landmass is NOT complete. And this is the regions recreated in skyrim landmass map:

But yes, the question is... why ?

Possibly for future DLC? Seems like the most logical explanation.

I'd still like to know how that guy did it. tcl doesn't do it for me. I suppose there should also be an .ini setting that would turn off the invisible borders.

TFC lets you through the wall but you 'leave your body' so it wont load anything past where you were standing, and everything disappears a few feet ahead
doesnt behave like noclip

I've seen people complaining about the gates or wondering if there's stuff beyond them, or else what is the point of them. There isn't stuff beyond them, and I'll tell you the point of them. It's for realism. It makes no sense in Oblivion that there is no concievable method for a theoretical NPC to get to Skyrim or Hammerfell or any of the other provinces blocked off by more than a small hill. The idea that there are actually paths that lead out of Skyrim makes the world much more believable, instead of just seeming like ther is nothing beyond it.

Seems they've done it good this time. In Oblivion, roads that should go to other provinces just... stop. Instead of continuing at least for hundred metres until the first turn so that it appears that they lead somewhere.
How many passes to Cyrodiil there are and where are they on the map? Realistically and lore-wise, there should be at least 3-4. One from Bruma heading north, one from Cheydinhal, Pale Pass, and from Chorrol and Sancre Tor to Skyrim.

There are two gates leading to Morrowind. One is also east of Winheldm.
