I really think http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Ahzirr_Traajijazeriis cool. Renrija Krin are pretty interesting. Like a kitty biker gang, but...not really at all.

The Real Barenziah is the one that sticks in the memory, but I felt sad for that human lover of hers who just seems to fade out of the story ("stig?").

I also liked the one about the guy who tricks his dinner guests into poisoning themselves. In truth though, there are so many good books about the lore of the game I could sit there reading them all day.

The Doors of Oblivion is a nice read. A wizard exploring the different realms of Oblivion until getting lost in the endless library belonging to Hermaeus-Mora, refusing to leave in his pursuit of forbidden knowledge

It just goes to show that the Beth team are at least as enthusiastic as we are ^_^ They care about the whole thing

BTW someone mentioned Castle XYZ, does that book really exist in Oblivion? I can?t find it

Speaking of castles, the quest in Xedilian of which I?ve only read about, http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Shivering:Manual_of_Xedilian to its traps is quite fun to read as well

I always carry the Little Book of Riddles with me, because the riddles are hilarious because they make no sense.
Its just a shame there aren't more riddles, that book never fails to amuse me :P

One thing about books in Oblivion, it may be just two-three pages but when you see it it?s as thick as if it had 300 :P

For those of you who plays as orcs, you might be interested in reading about http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:The_True_Nature_of_Orcs

Just found A Calcinator Treatise. It bums me out when I've already maxed out a skill and come across a skill book. There's a little pause while the game looks at my stats, then I can start reading. Btw, it's extremely dry reading.

Real Barenziah was the first book I actually took the time to read in Oblivion :P
It's also the best I've read in my opinion. Lusty Argonian Maid is..... interesting. The King Of Worms poem is eerily..... nice actually.
Where do you get the Little Book Of Riddles?

Argonian Account is a good series too atually.
*Sigh*.. we need to start an Oblivion book club where each week we're given the objective of looking for a book, (along with a clue of where it is of course) and then reading it so we can review it as a reply to the post.
Good stuff I tell ya'.

I think some NPC's have it in their houses, some bookstores may have it.
Sometimes you may find a copy in some random ruin somewhere.

I see that many have chosen The Real Barenziah as their favourite read. I?ve never actually read one through, I?ve browsed but the books never spoke to me. Maybe it?s my lack of interest in royal affairs that keeps me from them :P
I do however like diaries, such as http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Gelebourne%27s_Journal associated with a quest in Bruma.

Pfft, that's nothing. You want to see the http://monkeytruth.net/texts/orccreation.shtml origin of the Orc's? Unfortunately it has yet to appear in any game, though I'm aware that it's added via a mod to Morrowind. Still, it and the other texts on this site are worth a read.

I actually didn't really dig the Real Barenziah as much as other books - I'm more into those which are straight-forward "nonfiction," or clever little stories like "A Game at Dinner," a quick read and a laugh.

NO one mentions Purloined Shadows? That book is beyond amazing, great twist at the end, and let's not forget The Pig Children, that's good for a laugh, unless your an orc of course..
And not too long ago the first Elder Scrolls book came out for real life! Check out The Infernal City by Greg Keyes!

Well I couldn?t relate to that since it?s not in the game. I agree however that The Pig Children is way too short and does not provide in-depth information

I sort of got that feeling. You know, reading between the lines but maybe I misread this time :P Personally I think it´s too short though

Oh, I see, maybe somewhere between me saying not to long ago and and that book, anywho, has no one else ever read Purloined Shadows? It's well near one of my favorites.

At the moment I am on a book hunt for The Firmament, but don't tell me, I want to find it myself. I enjoy reading about astronomy in oblivion, especially since my guy is a retired assasin who lives in Anvil and works out in the bay and reads and collects books and does astronomy in his free time!

I like going around and collecting unique books, like diaries. The one on Dive Rock was especially interesting. I swear, I spend more time stealing books then anything else. My house is filled with piles of books upstairs in my study and downstairs. I also have a mercury shield in display to show my astronomical side. I live in benirus manor. My favorites are:

Pension of the Ancestor Moth: I like this because I had a blast exploring the crypts, before I knew it was important for something, I just found it by accident. It brings back memories
Agnar's journal: Becaue Agnar made me really feel bad for him

And one last one about Varla Stones and Wekylend stones: I like how it had bias because in the end it asks the reader a question whether the Ayleids were more advanced and better than the Imperials, then quickly dismisses that as lies, showing the bias and that an Imperial Author wrote this.

Are you on PC? If you could take a picture of all those books and post a link here it would be nice :)
