If Cyrodiil was real...

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 9:12 am

So, as the title says, if Cyrodiil was real and you lived there, where would you live?
In game, you might think Bravil would be a wonderful place to live, but in real life, I can imagine it would be a terrible place to live. The smelly, open-sewer canol, pickpockets on every street, mouldy, wet and leaking houses, it would be terrible!
Also, I would like to know what region people would spend the most time in, or think would be the most beautiful. In game, the Jerall Mountains are scenic, majestic mountain peaks. But in real life, it would be a deadly cold, frozen, barren winter wasteland. If you don't know the region borders, you can see them http://images.uesp.net//3/35/OB-regionMap-All.jpg.
For me? I would like to live in Chorrol, it just seems like a charming place.
What region would I think the most beautiful? I can't decide between The West Weald and The Great Forest. Both rich, forest-y farmland, with beautiful, scenic vistas.

I would probably live in Skingrad. Always loved the buildings. Otherwise Chorrol. Definitely love spending time in both cities.

My favorite region would be the Colovian Highlands. I never really traveled there when I played early on, but spent about a day there once and really loved the landscape. Might be a stretch, but it kind of reminds me of the western US.

I didn't really follow the suggestions on how not to vote. I also don't exactly endorse the concept of 'if Cyrodiil was real'. Real what? It is real. It is a fully developed rich world full of its own lore, history, geography and physics that have nothing to do with those of the planet earth. I don't think I've seen a toilet in Chorrol, much less ANY sort of sewage system there. I think in view of that, picking on poor little Bravil is somewhat without foundation. ^_^

I did indeed pick Bravil and the Nibenay Basin. The beautiful forest and river come right into the city. The population of the frontier town is small and not hassled by too many trappings of civilization or rules. The location is great for one who travels Cyrodiil as much as my character and I.

Don't get me wrong, each and every city and region has its charm. That is why we travel so much. In reality, we live out of our saddlebags and guildhalls. :twirl:

I would have to say Anvil. Despite its one abandoned house, the haunted house, that scary Dark Brotherhood place, and the KOTN chapel attack, I think that it's a charming little open town with pleasant architecture in an amazing location.

I said Skingrad because of how tight and city feeling it is. Also has the best Guild Hall (FG) and a great farmland. I said the Great Forest because it has the best wild life such as bears, wolves and lions.

Bravil and the Nibenay Valley for me. I love that peninsula directly south of Bravil. That is where I would have my cottage.

Chorrol, Skingrad or Cheydinhal. Normally, I prefer Leyawiin in game, but the racist, hostile environment might not be so nice if I was there myself. :D

EDIT // Wow, just full of typos this morning...

I don't really understand the point. Isn't Cyrodiil real? It exists in our heads and that makes it real. I could tell you all that there's a monster underneath my bed who is harmless, and he would exist. Because I think he is.

"Of course it is happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean that it is not real?"

I mean like you can actually physically touch it, and walk in the fields of the Great Forest using your feet rather than a keyboard/controller.

If I lived in Cyrodiil I'd be a mage specializing in Illusion and Alchemy so I'd probably live in the MG of either Bravil or Bruma. However, my favourite town is Skingrad so I might move there to further my alchemical studies under Sinderion's tutelage.

Anvil. Sunset or sunrise on the dock is beautiful. Though I generally choose the Skingrad house, Chorrol is a lovely town.

Depends on your philosophy. :) I, for one, don't think believing in something makes it real, as in you can't touch it or feel it and have no concrete proof of it's existance. It's really a matter of what you personally believe.

@Jack_B97, Glarthir wouldn't worry me nearly as much as Dion, the carrot with no sense of personal space. :P

I'm torn between Chorrol and Skingrad. Not sure what the region is that is between them? Great Forest? That is my favorite part of the map. Big old growth forests, rolling hills, lots of greenery down on the forest floor, ancient Ayleid ruins that sort've blend into the landscape yet contrast beautifully. Some normal wildlife, plenty of flora, and a smattering of more supernatural monsters.

I'd go for Cheydinhal and the Valus Mountains. I'd love to hang out with Dunmer. Plus Newlands Lodge <3 Who wouldn't want to drink there?!
I think it's probably the (somewhat delusional) view I have of myself ingame. A character that was "me", would probably be a Dunmer Hunter/Ranger. Living off the land. That is, if I got to create the character, haha. Some of my friends would say otherwise.

But I would definitely travel a hell of a lot if I lived in Cyrodiil.

As a real Nord ( ) I have to choose Bruma, feel right at home there.

As for most beautiful regions I love The Great Forest and the Jeralls. Big beautiful woods and crispy high mountain air is what attracts me :)

Me too. When I was young, I didn't just have an imaginary friend, I had an imaginary town, with scandal and murder and whatnot (my mother watched Coronation Street), yet I knew that it wasn't real.

It seems no-one likes Kvatch. I really like Kvatch, and was close for my second/third choice. Its on a lovely mountaintop location, where you can see the sea, and still get snow and with the Kvatch Rebuilt mod, it turns into a wonderful little city.

I'd live in Anvil, it's my favourite city in the game because of the sunsets on the docks, and the Spanish-like architecture there. My favourite regions are: The Gold Coast, Colovian Highlands, The West Weald, and the Great Forest because it reminds me of California, and I like playing a fantasy RPG in an environment familiar to me.

My favorite town is Chorrol and I picked it because the Great Forest is right outside the gate and I would build a cabin by the pond north of the town and sit on the dock to fish and watch the wildlife.
EDIT I had a feeling that Battlhorn Castle was near my idealised homesite,But I wanted it to be a completist :shakehead: .

I think thats why I love Chorrol and that area so much. It just seems appropriate to have a nice little cabin there, sleep in late and then spend your afternoons on the pier fishing/and or hunting.

I chose Cheydinhal. Before I even played the game or had an inkling of what The Elder Scrolls series was about, I watched my husband play a little bit. Since he was in the Dark Brotherhood he spent a lot of time in Cheydinhal. I was like, "What a beautiful little town. It looks just like a town out of a fairy tale!" And of course after I played the game myself and realized that not only was it beautiful, it was filled with Dunmer...well it's been love ever since. My character and I like to walk to the little island park at sunset. In my opinion it's one of the prettiest places in Cyrodil.
