Dadric Artifact weapons < the ones I craft..

Post » Thu Dec 15, 2011 7:57 am

I am disappointed in the dadric weapons you get along the way. I have the mehrunes dagon thing also a Mace and this Dawnstar sword. The best one so far is the Dawnstar sword. After I upgraded it to flawless the damage was 104 with 13 fire damage. The Dadric Sword I craft and upgrade it to legendary is 145 damage with 25 magic damage added. My sword ownes!

Is full dadra the best gear this games has at the moment? Is there a better weapon then mine? I guess I should not complain, Nothing really can handle my sword at the moment.

Full Daedric gear is the best one can have, yes.

As to the Artifact weapons being underpowered comparatively, I sympathize. However, that's pretty much the way it's been in every single Elder Scrolls game, except for Daggerfall.

This is not the case. A full list of leveled items can be found http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Leveled_Items

There are numerous problems with this:
1. Daedric artifacts from daedric lords can only be improved to flawless, wherease normal daedric weapons can be improved to legendary.
At the very least, daeric artifacts should be treated as daedric weapons for the purposes of improving them.

2. Blacksmithing and enchanting are OP. Fact.

3. Daedric artifacts should level with you. I mean, they are legendary fabled items from all-powerful daedra lords. It's not a stretch for them to level almost like as if they are living things.
Or at the very least, let the weapons increase in power as you kill more people with them.

Think of it this way; artifacts are old. As in ancient. They are to be collected, not wielded.
Similarly, certain wines should never be opened. Merely admired in their racks.

The technology of the races of Nirn has progressed since their creation.
Thus, denizens of the planet can now outpace their predecessors. Don't fight it. Revel in it. You've become awesome.

So at level 46, you should have the strongest quest items.

I agree the artifacts should be better then what you can make. I think WoW has a +1 here. The gear you can make is sort of a starter gear and you find along the way better gear. I am not saying the Gear you craft should be nerfed. I think the artifacts should be upgraded. I made the gear for me and my followers and after that all i do is collect the vendor loot..

Incorrect. You just have to use potions ,enchantments, and the like to improve your Smithing skill. Volendrung is Legendary in my game.

Uhm, neither of those are a Daedric artifact. :P

what about the daedric cresent, eltonbrand from morrowind, and umbra and wabbajack in oblivion. those are some of the most powerful weapons from those games, that you don't make yourself.

Yep.
And you're Dragonborn, not some peasant smithy.
Hey, I'm just throwing out an idea to help one justify an artifact's lackness in one's own roleplaying mind. Nothing more.

If quest rewards were the best loot in the game then smithing and enchanting would be pointless. Hence they are not.

The key is to do the right one at the right time, really. My warrior did Molag Bal's quest early and I used that mace for like 20 levels.

I seem to recall making weapons that far outstriped those, but perhaps your experience is different.

EDIT: I'm sorry, are you acknowledging that you can craft better weapons in Morrowind? If so, then I'm not sure what we're debating, here.

Edit: you could improve them by enchanting them, but no, there was no improving the base weapon in morrowind or oblivion.

however, umbra (based on weapon damage, and no enchantments) was the most powerful melee weapon.

however, in oblivion bow + arrows yeilded the most damage.

check the last words in that post. however, umbra (based on weapon damage, and no enchantments) was the most powerful melee weapon.

Actually, I think that the Mace of Aevar Stone-Singer outstripped it by a good deal, if I remember.

Well, correct me if I'm wrong, Goldbrand in Morrowind was one of the best one-hand swords available to the player, so not all of them were underpowered. Anyways, it's fine that some Daedric artifacts in the past series were typically weaker than other weapons of note, like Umbra; however, it's bothersome that if you acquire a Daedric artifact at a lower level, you're passively punished in that items available later - crafted, ebony, etc - will all be much better. Items like the Nightingale armor, sword and bow, despite how cool they are, can really hurt a player that out levels them, especially if they acquired them at level 15 or so.

i don't recall that off the top of my head, but i do know that i was able to get umbra's damage up to 32 max and never found any thing else that could get any higher than 30

maybe post a spoiler tag and tell me how you get that mace, that may re jog my memory.

It's been too long since I've played to remember Goldbrand's stats, but I remember looking at it once and then discarding it for my custom-made Daedric sword, which I believe was more powerful.

As to Nightingale Items, I have this to say; by the time you get to a high enough level to get the best version of it, you'll already most likely have better weapons and armor (especially if you craft your own gear).

In Oblivion Shadowrend outstripped Umbra, in both physical damage and weapon enchantment. Also, Umbra's lack of any type of magic damage meant that by high levels, it was pretty much worthless except as a means to recharge the good magic weapons you enchanted with Sigil Stone magic.

Eh, one of the things I remember clearly about Morrowind was that you could turn the Goldbrand into a more powerful version that was a pun on a basket ball players name, Eltonbrand, I think.

Here's the stats

Chop 10?60 Slash 5?55
Thrust 5?25 Ratio 90 (110 w/ spell)

Enchantment
Cast When Strikes
Fire Damage Fire Damage 10?30 pts on Touch
Fortify Attack Fortify Attack 30 pts for 30 secs on Self
Restore Fatigue Restore Fatigue 10 pts on Self

Outstriped by the physical weapon damage on the Mace I linked, and I believe by enchanted weapons that you could make.

If you could find a way to stack your strength, then Aevar's Mace was one of the few exceptions to the "I can make something better than that" rule.
