This has occured to me for a while soon, and this has probably been answered already, but why are there 16 daedric princes? When not all of them are male, shouldn't some of them be princesses, unless they are of course trans-gender.

Nocturnal is female and so is Meridia(spelling?)

Daedric Prince's don't really have genders, just forms they prefer to appear in. As such, 'Prince' is the term used, regardless of how they appear.

From my understanding, the daedra princes are sixless (prince shouldn't connote gender in this case). They might assume a particular appearance when visiting Nirn, possibly inspired by what their followers think they look like based on their attributes.

Daedras are sixless....Their appearace in mortal's eyes reflect their personalities not what they are....

They can choose to be both. In the book The Infernal City, Sul sometimes referred to Azure (usually a woman) as a man.

In general, the term "prince" is to be used in a gender neutral way, as the princes have no gender at all, and a way to mean "ruler."

Daedric Princes (sometimes referred to as Daedra Lords) are the most powerful of the Daedra, and thus most commonly worshipped as gods. Each has a particular sphere, which it is said to govern. The various Daedric Princes and their spheres are listed below. Although Daedric Princes may assume the form of a female, they have no inherent gender, so they may all sometimes be referred to as Princes. In all, there are 16 known Princes, including one which assumes the role of two. According to Mankar Camoran, Lorkhan is also a Daedric Prince, although this has never been confirmed.

They are all genderless, but choose to appear as either male or female, or both (in Mephala's case).
