Daedra Lord Forms

Post » Sat Dec 18, 2010 1:32 pm

So, as probably seen, Meherune Dagon's form is a huge, devil-like giant, while Sheogoraths is humanoid. Is this to do with their spheres? On the shrines, Sheo's appearence isn't like it is in SI, so what would the other Daedra Lord's forms look like?

1. Their appearance is part of their sphere.

2. The giant size it their god form/divine manifestation. The concept art shows Vivec riding a giant Netch Hound on his birthday and there is allot of hints about the Aedra being giants too.

3. The appearance of the Daedra isn't that strictly defined. The games are still creative products so there will be differences in art and style. His statue was bald in Morrowind for example and he looked young in Daggerfall.

Anyway Sheogoraths shrine is pretty close to Sheogorath, a mad man in a fancy suit with a beard. Which is really all that matters and you should expect the same level of similarity for the other Daedra. Besides he can't be wearing the same clothes all the time. He probebly changes after every Grey March. :P

Shouldn't the shrines, or rather the statues also be considered a work of a mortal? Inspired by the Daedra in question, possibly, but still made by Nirnian (that came dangerously close to "Narnian", actually) hands.
Thus, it will not be "perfect", and might not mirror how the Prince actually looks.
Right?

one would think so unless when Nirn was created the statues where "placed" there by the princes

Possibly, it's the other way around. The princes look similar to their statues because that's what mortals interpret them to look like. So, when they manifest, we see something that resembles their respective shrine-statues come to life. Why? Because the mortal eye cannot percieve something which transcends form, and therefore they cannot be seen by a creature which requires an object to have a true static form in order to percieve it. You simply cannot "glimpse the innefable". Instead, your mind substitutes the image you've been taught to associate with that specific daedroth. Kind of like how when a mortal looks at an Aedric plane, they see a planet. just a thought. Chicken or the egg, ya' know?

That's true; Sheogorath's true form is a sprinkled jelly doughnut, incomprehensible by those who favor other pastries.

No... he meant Netch Hound. Though they were once prominent in Morrowind, they were all wiped out by Lorkhan. The last remaining "Netch hound" belongs to Vivec...... Just kidding
