Daedric Crescents

Post » Fri Oct 15, 2010 9:28 pm

Okay well im making a mod for Oblivion and was considering adding in the daedric crescent. I was wondering if it would be lore friendly to include them in leveled lists? I know that all the remaining daedric crescents in Tamriel were destroyed after the Battespire, but is it possible for them to have returned during the Oblivion Crisis? surely a few dremora would brought them with them to fight Tamrielics?

Dagon and his minions could have reforged some new ones. There are also a few the circulate around; the Nerevarine was the last one seen with a crescent.

But...I'd give the crescents to the most powerful of generals and fighters.

I think people might forge some of the style because they're interested in them.

Because they're more for show than practical use?

Rule of weaponry in games: the more impractical and stylish, the better the weapon!

Perhaps the effort and resources that would have otherwise gone to forging new Daedric Crescents instead were used in building the Siege Crawlers and Sigil Stones.

I say add them. Maybe one on the Great Gate mission? Though if you're using the one on the Nexus, please do try and give it a better "sheathed" position. The way its mounted on the back of the pc in the screenshot just looks plain silly. It could be mounted better.

A little off topic: Where was the gate to the Battlespire? Is it supposed to be in Cyrodiil? Perhaps if you make the ruins of the gate (no longer usable), you could find a crescent nearby. Just an idea.

I can't help but think that particular mod made the daedric crescent too large. At least compared to the morrowind version of the weapon.

The one in Morrowind seemed to work pretty well as a weapon to me.

Very true, at least for fantasy weapons, and as long as it's not a joke weapon, in the world of fantasy RPGs, equipment is not exactly confined by what would be practical in real life, if it were, we wouldn't have things like the Daedric Crescent, and the best armor in the game wouldn't be all spiky looking.

Bur yes, I could certainly see Dagon's invasion bringing some new crescents into Tamriel, and Morrowind does show us that there was at least one still in existence at the time, though we don't know what happened to that one after Morrowind, seeing as it's available as an artifact in the game, adding a few to Oblivion wouldn't necessarily be out of place, though of course not every bandit should have them.
