Daedric Realm

Curiosity.

I assume you didn't get the memo.

You make it seem like that's a bad thing.

I'd at least like to know if there is a deeper thought than the cool and wow factor. I don't know it, so I want to know if others can articulate why. Of course, since I don't like the idea of going to another prince's, I am going to argue the antithesis point, but if someone can smack me upside the head with a great explanation, I will yield.

Ha! You have a sense of humor. Who would've guessed?

Well if I could articulate a reason for you, I would. But I'm not here to support one way or the other. I think both your opinion, and the opinion of the supporters, are valid.

I just enjoy watching you talk down to people, and then I get to mess with you. It makes some of my afternoons more entertaining.

Really, this. It's the [censored] nords, and their pantheon's time to shine. Lets let it shine. Morrowind, heavily daedric influenced, makes sense there would be plenty of info on the 3 good and 4 corners. Oblivion, Oblivion invaded and the barriers between Mundus and Oblivion were shaky, and it makes sense the daedra have a time to shine, especially MD. Skyrim, end of the world, civil war, Alduin, and Shor. No need for the princes to interject, there's going to be plenty without the need of the princes. Skyrim should be more like the Daggerfall experience.

Since this is the end of the kalpa, doesn't this mean the Aedra are coming back? I want to see if they come back before Alduin eats everything, or after during the intermediate period.

But why can't we have both?
For me, it comes down to not wanting the princes to steal a lot of the spotlight. Oblivion was very much all about the daedra, Morrowind was all about the Tribunal (this includes Azura as she was a part of the history), Daggerfall was all about why Iliac Bay is full of pissants who want a giant stompy bot :P, and Arena was all about removing Jagar Tharn and bringing Uriel back.

I want Skyrim to be all about Alduin and Shor, as it is the end of the Kalpa, and the return to the Dawn.

I must agree that I wouldn't really want a Daedric realm to be an expansion or anything major like that. I think it would be best if it was something like Clavicus Vile's realm in TESA: Redguard. Just a quick step in, a look around, a conversation with the Prince, and then right back out into Tamriel. That's enough for most of the Princes, in my opinion. Clavicus Vile is my favorite Daedric Prince, but I'm not at all concerned with returning to his realm for a lengthy period of time.

Seeing how Hermmy Mora does have a history with the nords, and he does have a vast library, I would be fine with a situation like this. Of course, I also hope if that's the case, every book looked at explains everything EXCEPT what the PC is looking for :P

Yeah, I wouldn't mind seeing a Prince take a side role.

I wouldn't say Oblivion was about ALL the Daedra.I'd say that the princes themselves had a pretty minimal presence in the game(other than Mehrunes Dagon, even though you only get to see him briefly).

Any of the ones that have not already been visited in previous TES games.

NO MORE DEAD LANDS. I would enjoy visiting Hemarus Mora's realm, I would also like to learn the secret of killing a Daedra (perminately) while I'm there....

I went with Nocturnal since I haven't really seen much done with her and I really enjoy thieves - really not sure it would fit into a Skyrim milieu however =/

Eh, like Velorien I'd be annoyed if they went through the effort to send us to Hircine's realm AGAIN. A decent chunk of Battlespire was spent there, and we see plenty of Hircine again in Bloodmoon.

I'm torn about Azura's realm. While I'd be excited to see it, I'd rather see it in the next ES game, when the graphics won't be limited by the current generation of console hardware.

Vaernima's realm would be nice, except we kinda saw a lame version of it on Obliv. I only want to go there if its done well enough to give ME nightmares.

I suppose my vote would have to be Meridia's realm then, the Colored Rooms. I'm reminded of "The Masque of the Red Death", which had a series of color-themed rooms.

I voted for the overwhelming majority of them, though not for Namiras. The crawlies in Skyrim proper will be more than enough.

I am always happy to have access to The Dremora, The Aureal and The Mazken.

I would love to see both Coldharbour and Moonshadow. And the realm of Meridia.

Above all I would LOVE to see what is happening in the havens of Sanguine. Best Daedra Ever. lol :obliviongate: :celebration:

After closing over 100 Oblivion Gates I have no idea why 18 people voted for Deadlands.

Anything but Shivering Isles.

That was my least favorite DLC. Too Alice In Wonderland-ish

I've always been fascinated by the idea of the Ashpit, but I'm not sure a mortal would be able to, like, survive there...
Although I would have said that about Dagon's plane before Oblivion.

Honestly, I think I'd like any plane of Oblivion to be exclusive to a DLC/expansion. Any major Daedric plane in Vanilla Skyrim would take up a pretty large part of the development team, and a minor addition wouldn't do a plane justice, IMO. On the other hand, if an entire expansion is devoted to doing a plane properly, it might be totally awesome.
EDIT: After hangin' out at UESPWiki for a couple minutes, I think Coldharbour would be the best Expansion material. I think it fits well with the darkened atmosphere in Skyrim.

THe great wizard Morian Zenas Survived there, unitl he found his way to Coldharbour, then Moonshadow.

Any reason why people want to visit the realms, other than the cool and wow factor? Because that's all I'm really seeing.

For the knowledge, for the lore, for the experience, for the wonder and the horror and the lusty marvels, and the lurid displays, for the challenge, and the privelage, for the honour of having seen that which relatively few mortals have seen with their waking eyes. Why would people want to visit the realms? Why do people want to see Skyrim, or Morrowind, Hammerfell or The Summerset Isles? The reasons are doubtless many, but even if they were few, those few would likely be reason enough.

This I will say, The Daedra are part of the very soul of The Elder Scrolls. They are as much a part of the Elder Scrolls Legendarium as Argonians, Orcs, Bosmer and Nords. . . and there are some who find the races of Daedra more fascinating than any one of the mortal races I just mentioned.

But this is the time for Shor, Alduin, and the rest of the Nordic pantheon to be the main focus.

We had enough of Oblivion in Oblivion. Now it's time to have a plot dealing with Shor and Alduin. The Aedra should actually play a bigger role in this, because the end of a kalpa is the Dawn Era.

To quote several Dark Elves, Altmer and Kajitt I have met in my travels: "The Nine Divines are Boring! Daedra? Daedra are Never Boring!"

And no, I don't personally think ill of The Aedra, lest anyone take it that way and turn rabid. But the Daedra to have that je ne sais quoi. . . that special Joie De Vivre. I'm for more of them in ES, ample and often.

Yes, yes. All well and good, and I will be happy to see them as well. But my character has long affilliation with The Daedra. . . how dissapointed he and I would be to find the game too far removed from them. Besides, while the Daedra did not invest themselves in Mundus the way the Aedra did, the nevertheless have evinced a constant, intimate interest in it. Maybe they don't want Alduin eating the damned thing. Maybe he will get their attention the way Mehrunes Dagon got the attention of Akatosh, or the way Jyggalag got their attention long ago.
