Well... It's Do or Die time for this mod~ If it isn't achieved by the end of the year or at least significant* progress made I'll send this mod to oblivion (no not the game)!
I've been procrastinating* but never quite abandonding my ideas for Daedric Sanctuary.
*(understatement)
On the plus side of putting it off for sooo long, I've come up with a much more focused and less(?) expansive vision of what I hope to achieve with this mod. Instead of having confusing amounts of possible arcs, factions and endings to deal with; there will now be one main story arc, with several possible endings along the way.
The majority of the mod will take place in the "City". (This is NO average city, but then again when's the last time you've SEEN something like a daedric city...?) Don't expect to just find a monster infested daedric town, waltz in, own up the place, and victory! Anyone foolhearty enough to try will end up floating through Oblivion... or worse (is that possible?).
IF you gain entry to the city, you'll have a heck of a task waiting for you.
Here's a general mostly non-spoiler outline/guide that will be subject to change (however, not much I hope).
Dividing the work into several major phases.
= The quest to reach the city and the areas to get there.
= The upper city, and its 'worlds'.
= The main towers.
= The lower city...
= The City Quests. (omg pain, dunno...)
= The outerworlds and conclusion quest.
Quest-wise there is Ideally...
= 1 quest to reach the city. (1-2 hours?)
= 2 quests to enter the city properly. (1-2 hours?)
= X amount of misc quests within the city... (where X is undetermined... but I'd want to say around 4 hours of quests)
= Y amount of main city quests... (where Y is undetermined... but I'd want to say up to 4+ hours of quests)
= Z amount of end game quests... (where Z is undetermined... but I'd want to say another 3 hours of quests)
Plenty, plenty of exploration time possible, just talking to NPCs, looking around, getting lost and doing non-quest stuff.
= 1 Romance possible, that is tied to the main quest.
= Currently 3 central characters, Lord Dregas Volar; The Temptress; and the girl.
= Many, many more NPCs whose importance have yet to be determined...
= Once you enter the city, you'll only have One week to complete the majority of the main city quests. You can't come and go; once you're in, you're all in.
= Undetermined but, it might be possible to involve Fyr and other Morrowind denizens for the finale.
= Conversations will be setup with lots of choices in how to deal with one thing.
random i.e.
"So, now that you have accepted my... proposition, can I count on you to do what must be done?"
-Don't think so; freak!
-I have reconsidered... This is not what I intended.
-I need more time to decide.
-... Could you repeat that, I wasn't listening.
-I'm prepared to finish this.
-You'd best hold your tounge. They're good as dead.
-Actually, I killed them already.
Basically I want the core of the mod to keep the player busy for one sleepless in-game week, making the player feel the scope of his or her objectives seem pressed for time. There will be plenty of ways to screw up, end up dead, or end the main quest early besides actual fights. Simply visting the wrong area at the wrong time could be one way [you'll know not to try some things, and there will be plenty of warning]...
You'll be seeing a lot of landscapes in this little city mod. Underwater, ruins, caves, gigantic daedric city complete with a beautiful river of lava (oh maybe a lake too?
), you'll be seeing some places you know very well as well..., and some crazy outer-plane areas.
I also REALLY hope I'll be able to count on using some great mods from other modders I've been eyeing for quite some time for the final beautifying phase... [lots of awesome models and creatures out there waiting to be used!]
Final word...
The one thing I can promise for this mod, is there won't be anything ordinary. Eye-candy is where I hope this mod will excel. I might be taking on too much, but with the deadline for at least significant progress being the end of the year... means I'd best get modin'!
