[WIP] Daedric Sanctuary

Post » Wed May 26, 2010 5:54 am

Hold on Archinaestro, that?s from another mod you are completing or it?s just the dooorway? I always download whatever you release but I wanted a bit more info to know what I was getting into

I am making a new Citadel of Myn Dhrur, and I use this portal to teleport to all the daedric shrines of Vvardenfell.
In the download above, there is not a mod. It is just the model of the portal, as seen in the video. It is not even placed in game.

"Ah the myth of the Daedric Sanctuary! Didn't expect anyone to believe in such ... I suppose an Outlander will believe anything."
People are crazy to still believe in this project!
But... I'm a svcker for unwavering optimism....

Also, Nice portal Arcimaestro Anteres! I'm certain I can also find a use for that if that model is up for grabs :)

...Well, here's the news... not good I'm afraid.
I've priortized three or four other projects ahead of Daedric Sanctuary [unreleased to MW...] So, I've been busy with them.
And I'm still busy with them. But, even though I said I'd drop the project if I didn't have enough to show for it come the new year (already passed)...

I reallllly also want to see something come of this project. I've given enough thought to the mod that I just can't let it go all to waste, as much as I try to cut ties to it, to devote myself to other projects.
So.... somehow.....

Maybe after midnight every night I can find some time to chip away at this until we can have a real happily ever after for this mod. Don't believe it's true till you see it for your own eyes though...!

For those interested in helping with the mod, my suggestion is to throw anything you think should be put in the mod this way. Whether it's an idea, a model, something you made, discussion on what should be in the mod, what shouldn't... (long as it seems appropriate to the mod/setting :P)
Should I open-discuss the entire plot and mod including spoilers? Let everyone nit-pick/work on what they want to see?

Well anyways... whether anything is thrown my way or not; my current intent is to work on the architecture. As the princess said! Don't hold your breath. But, long as I'm still alive this year (sometimes I have to check the mirror :P), I'm still dying to create a daedric sanctuary for all you creatures out there...

Actually, I have a question... Is it possible to turn buildings I've created out of many different pieces using the Morrowind editor, into single merged pieces? I'm not sure how laggy things will get making the city as I currently fashion them...

Well like I said before I might be interested in helping, however other then the basic outline you have provided, I have no idea of anything other then that. I do however have some opinions, but given you seem pretty set on what you want, I dont think it would matter(such as I think lots of people really hate time limits).
Aside from that, the architecture is mainly what interests me.

(On a side thought on the daedric stuff, there is now this project happening, mine which currently I am only somewhat toying with and havent bothered putting up a thread for, and then the one with someone making a daedric city. Would be interesting to link them in some way, but I think thats beyond doing.)

If you really do try to finish this mod, maybe you could use some of these skyboxes?

Sounds great! I will definitely download this mod the second it appears. I love the gate, as it looks like the Oblivion gate but with your own twist. Great job! Keep it up!

Great screens (earlier in this topic).

I think http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y133/X-Calibar/Morrowind/Daedric%20Sanctuary/SS-6.jpg in particular has a very cinematic quality/ look. Great stuff... :goodjob:

I like this idea. And I like the look of that Oblivion gate. Very clever!

Progress report... I've been working a few hours every night... I'm trying different ideas everyday currently. Soon I should be able to share stuff...

Somebody's making a daedric city already? Also, what is your project about?
As for helping... maybe after I have more progress I can ask people for help with specific things~

I think I have those downloaded! They could come in handy... Thanks for pointing those out :)
I won't need them currently for the main area since it's located underground, but other areas might benefit...

Is there reasoning behind these? I'll have to plug in some names and see how it sounds ~

Welsh names for high/wood elves

Why, actually? In Morrowind, High Elves got names from Quenya, and Wood Elves got Sindarin names (Tolkien's elven languages, FYI). Although Sindarin was designed to have Welsh-like sounds, both of these languages are artificial.

Yes there is reasoning behind it, the reasoning being that if you go look up the names, you will see that they are similiar and of at least a basic variation of them. Now I am not saying that all the names specifically follow this, but alot do(mabe I should have made that clearer). There is a definite lack of info on this subject of names(from what I looked for during page after page of google search), even the fact that daedric writing is most similiar to Phoenician(although that was one of the easier things to find). I know, I spent probably more time then I should have looking around for this info.

Well then I am sure you see why I made the connection to the names being similiar to Welsh names.

Yes, although I forget the title and such of the thread here. My project(assuming I spend more time on it as real life has a way of showing up) has to do with a daedric citadel in oblivion and quests centered on doing errands etc for Mehrunes Dagon and/or his servants, with a little(no make that major) prize at some point during the quest line. I figure it would be for anyone over lvl 30-40 or something like that.

Nice to see you , X-calibar.

your door looks very impresive. it seems you can make what you like just use simple round, cube and delta shape mesh.

about how to merge muti parts meshes into one single mesh, you may like to use nifscope.

no matter how long it will be fully finished, enjoy the fan time during making it.

see you~~

Impressive. You could start a nice quest chain with this. I would release the mod before you lose interest though, maybe someone else can pick up where you left off.
