Daedric Shrines and Quests

Post » Tue Aug 10, 2010 8:31 pm

Daedric shrines and quests have been a part of every Elder Scrolls game. I'm hoping these will still make a prominent appearance, even in the snowy mountainous land of Skyrim.

So what are your thoughts? Will Skyrim contain Daedric shrines like in Oblivion or do you think it will contain some larger Daedric ruins with the shrines inside like in Morrowind?

Any ideas of what some Daedric quests may be? Feel free to be imaginative with this.

Morrowind Daedric ruins. Definitely. (Or something similar)
If the lore hasn't allowed it before, then make the lore allow it now. Just don't put those statues...

Daedric quests should be unique. They were in Oblivion, which I liked.
I'm sure they can be improved further though.
I'd like to see some epic dungeons attached to the quests.

Sure, maybe a few Daedric shrine quests will be ok, but I want to find handplaced artifacts in the world by exploring.

As for what they will be? I'm sure there will be a quest for the Dragonbone cuirass if it's not just placed somewhere in the world.

I really hope there will be a shrine to at least each of the Daedra that were in Oblivion.

But nords don't worship Daedra :/ maybe the City that bordered what once was Morrowind could have an underground of sorts, unlikely we'll see anything on the scale of Daedric ruins since the Chimer made those way back in the day.

That's what worries me. I really enjoyed exploring the Daedric ruins in the past two Elder Scrolls games and doing the amusing quests. I hope Daedric worshippers went to Skyrim and built some shrines scattered about. I will be very disappointed if there aren't many Daedric shrines.

They'll be in the game, whether or not the Oblivion style quests are coming back I'm not so sure about. I think those quests need to be better.

I'd actually like to see the return of Daggerfall's system here. I wasn't too fond of the statues in Oblivion, but Morrowind's huge daedric shrines and ruins don't fit into Skyrim (as Nords don't have a history of being daedra worshippers). So yeah, Daggerfall's system. As far as I know, you were able to summon the Daedric Princes there by hiring a coven to do it for you.

Otherwise, at least put the statues into dungeons. It felt strange to just stumble across a daedric shrine in the wilderness in Oblivion. And dungeons that aren't filled with hostile creatures or NPCs are always a nice change.

I can almost guarantee shrines will be in, they are a series staple. Imperials do not worship daedra and yet there were many in Cyrodiil
On that note I would like to see a Jyggalag shrine, perhaps newly built as he only recently was freed from his curse.

Yeah that's true. I just hope Bethesda doesn't go the lazy route and put in less Daedric quests than in Oblivion or Morrowind. Some of the Daedric quests in Oblivion were the most humorous quests in the entire game.

But I think that Bethesda will deliver on this.

Well we're not the Champion of Cyrodiil any more. ie. we're not a complete loser. We're one of the last ****ing Dovahkiin. I want to see Daedric Princes come looking for me for my aid. Interactive dream sequences in which you can accept or reject their missions would be great.

You're the Nerevarine in Morrowind. The Daedric Princes didn't come to you in that game. You don't start as a God-like character in either Morrowind or Skyrim. So I don't think that ^ will happen.

And Morrowind came out almost a decade ago. The series has moved on a little. The events portrayed in Skyrim are the culmination of the Third Era, of which Morrowind was only a small part. This is important dammit. Make me feel epic.
