Daedric Weapons and Armour

Post » Tue Mar 22, 2011 12:31 pm

I'm pretty sure they will make a return, my question to you is, what will they look like?

I'm not a big fan of the Oblivion look, the Morrowind look was pretty cool, but I don't think it would fit that well. What do you think?

I'm not counting on there being any daedra around to steal it from, though you can probably still conjure some up. If it doesn't return, I'm sure they'll have dragon armor to replace it.

The Oblivion look was certainly spiny and evil looking. They could tone it down a bit. I'd rather see some kind of dragon scale/bone armor in Skyrim, kind of like in Dragon Age: Origins

Daedric armor always looks too evil, for my tastes. I'd rather have the high-level armor of the original game being something more morally good paladin-friendly than the demonic stuff I've seen in past games. :glare:

Honestly, I didn't like any of the higher leveled armor in Oblivion. You'd never see my character donning a suit of Daedric, Ebony, or Glass. Elven, Mithril, Orcish, and everything found below level 10 were where my interests laid. Hopefully they'll come up with more organic looking, natural armors. Like their materials were actually taken from the land. That's not to say I don't hope they have the occasional, other-worldly item. Just not excessive amounts of them.

As long as they change the helmet design from Oblivion, I'm good.

Good answers, I figured since it was in Oblivion and Morrowind(never played Daggerfall or Arena, so I wouldn't know), that it would be included. I love the thought of Dragon, and Bone armour. I really like the armour that the character from the trailer is wearing to though. That and the Assassin's Creed style armour looks amazing.

I wasn't too partial to the evil look of it either, I personally used the Madness, or Amber armours.

Agreed.
Edit: And I hope it isn't a http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Oblivion:Manual_of_Armor that claims orcish is a material instead of being a steel suit forged after orcish traditions.

I never understood why there were always only a few kinds of armors for each class of heavy, light, or medium. And random enchanted armor doesn't count. I also hated the way some of the higher armors looked, and I hope Skyrim will have more variety to choose from. I mean, why should I be stuck with glass armor at level 20? Why not make another suit of armor that rivals the defense rating of glass armor? I understand you need certain tiers to be better then others, but why have only one armor per tier? Fallout did a pretty good job of this before you learned how to wear power armor, and even then there was some variety.

I think Daedric armour would be okay as a unique item, something you can get that's handed down with a nice dose of Oblivion lore perhaps.

I would like them to be much rarer to give some use to Bound Armour. Hopefully with no Oblivion gates opening up Deadric gear will be as rare as it was in Morrowind.

ya me to i always bought the house in chorrol and i would have a set of each armor in my chest from the worseto the best including the expansions and the amber matrix and ore matrix armor..it took a while.. but anyways i actualy really liked the daedric armor it symbolized a more angry fierce character..it had the classic evil colors, black and red, and had jagged edges all over.. i loved it

Anything after orcish and mithril was a bit much for me, ebony wasnt too bad except for the fugly helmet but elven, glass and daedric was just too.... bleh.
I like simple armor, it can be ornate just not too out there.

Yea, pretty much all the high lvl stuff in oblivion was a little too flamboyant for my taste. But since this is Skyrim, I'm looking forward to some decent fur armor, or at least something with a good barbarian look.

I'm pretty sure we will have deadric armors, because in Cyrodiil around the time when oblivion opened, every marauder had a full set of them :) They would in 200 years spread across the whole province of Tamriel and into Skyrim too. Surely not as common as in OB, but still there.

Oh well you know process of making Daedric items, its involve souls, pain and blood of lesser daedra.
The eternal torment of the Daedra can be felt by the wielder of the weapon, making these items suitable only for the bravest and mightiest of warriors.

The Elder Scrolls without Daedric weapons and armor would be like Star Wars without lightsabers, so yes, Daedric items should make an appearance in Skyrim, and I'm sure they will. As to how they'll look, probably a new design, and that's how it should be. I don't want to see everything in Skyrim look the same as in past games, that's just boring, I want to see what new ideas Bethesda can come up with, so I look forward to seeing what new things Bethesda will do with classic Elder Scrolls items such as Daedric equipment. As long as it's less common than in Oblivion.

Anything after orcish and mithril was a bit much for me, ebony wasnt too bad except for the fugly helmet but elven, glass and daedric was just too.... bleh.

Simple armor is boring if you ask me, it's fine for common items, but when you're dealing with legendary items of great power, I expect something impressive. This is fantasy here, it's supposed to be fun, not realistic, and I enjoy looking at ornate armors more than looking at bland ones. You want reality, go read a history book. Bring on whatever crazy things the designers' imagination can conjure up I say.

Daedric armor always looks too evil, for my tastes. I'd rather have the high-level armor of the original game being something more morally good paladin-friendly than the demonic stuff I've seen in past games.

Daedric armor is supposed to look evil, we're talking about armor forged using the souls of Daedra here, it's not supposed to look like you're stereotypical paladin armor. Not that we can't have that too, there should be more variety in armor as a whole I'd say, whether you fancy Daedric armor or something a little less menacing, you should be able to find something to suit your tastes without intentionally limiting yourself to low level armors.

I think that Daedric items should return in Skyrim, but they should be more like they were in Morrowind. I'm not talking about appearance, but Daedric items should be something that not everyone has access to. The armour should be one of the most powerful and hardest to find armours in the game. Only the oldest and/or most powerful people should have it, and you would only be able to find it deep in the largest and most dangerous dungeons in the land.

it doesnt need to be evil, neither good.. it needs to be badass.. something that looks cool ( definitely with huge pauldrons ) or for leather users some kind of altair's armor from the first assassins creed

In Morrowind it looked stylishly evil, and strong. The three helms were damn mysterious each.

In Oblivion they looked like black sponges soaked in some kind of body fluid...And crude.I never even wanted to wear that armor.
I'm expecting Skyrim to be better than Oblivion though. Not really sure it it'll catch up to MW though,I have a feeling that the concept artist was changed after Morrowind o_O

I agree. I've got three sets that I tend to use (I enchant with Shield so armour rating isn't an issue). Te first is a basic "Spellsword" set; Leather Greaves and Cuirass with Iron Gauntlets and Boots, plus a green hood. That's for basic roaming and general questing. For higher risk missions and main questlines I use my "Orcish Legend" set which is all Orcish with a Black Hood. Once I've done the main quest and am making progress in the Shivering Isles I then use "Madgod" armour which is a set of Madness with a Necromancers Hood.

Notice they're still kind of understated, with exception of the Madness stuff (which really should be a bit more eccentric). I hope they keep the high end stuff fairly simple, or at least have more simple options up there.

I would love that!
In Morrowind other than killing Divayth Fyr there was only one suit of daedric armor and you had to particularly go through the whole game to get the parts. The only things missing were the pauldrons. One was added in Tribunal and the other in Bloodmoon. Bethesda messed up the later, because they put it so behind a rock you couldn't reach it. :) But they fixed it with the patch.
