Daedrisk

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 9:32 am

Hi!

I was just curious as to the uses of Daedric Artifacts and the potential consequences of one falling into the wrong hands. From an RPing standpoint, selling such an item could possibly lead to it being manipulated in a ritual similar to the one in the Oblivion main quest.. so what can the 'blood of a Daedric Lord' be used to do?

Thanks! ^_^

There's really no lore to back up any of that crap that went on in that portion of the main quest. If a Daedric artifact falls into the wrong hands, there is a clear threat only beacuse said artifacts are quite magically potent.

Getting the "blood of a Daedra lord" is really quite simple. All you have to do is summon them no their day and ask (after some quid pro quo). From an RP standpoint it should be a lot easier to obtain Daedric matter the Oblivion seems to indicate. Its quite literally all over Mundus.

Also, Daggerfall lore holds that many artifacts--daedric or otherwise--have minds of their own (so to speak). There are tales of them abandoning their masters for disuse, etc., only to reappear somewhere (and somewhen) else. So if you snag the Wabbajack and aren't driving people insane with it, or whatever, it should eventually ditch your boring ass and try to fall into someone more worthy's hands, or simply back to Sheogorath. No hero is supposed to be able to possess any one artifact for more than one year and one day. Mind you, this has never actually happened in a game, but that's what the books say.

Hmm...not to hijack the thread, but is Umbra an artifact of Clavicus' or is it one o' them independant mind-of-their-own doohickeys?

Worst about Oblivion is that the lore artifacts you receive was given by incorrect lore persona. Like Spellbreaker from a Deadric prince ever could go that far in the lore <.<

There is a series of books in Morrowind about a pen called Feyfolken - the name of the Daedoth spirit imprisoned in the pen.

Unlike the spirits that inhabit weapons and armour it appears that Feyfolken is very powerful and takes control of the posixr's mind ...

Daedric Weapons are said to be created through torture and other darker doings - so I recon there is a possible use for that kind of blood ... no knowing whose though ;)

Question is does Daedric Blood actually contain power? Or does it have to be imbued with power by a Prince or comparable personage?

he only difference between a Deadric prince and a lesser Daedra is how powerful its is. They are at their core the same kind of spirits.

Just a thought:

The items needed to open a door to Paradise were a mingling of magic from both the Solar and Lunar spheres. Where have you heard this before and what does this say about Paradise and Mankar?

Once you learn that, you'll learn a lot about the Elder Scrolls universe.

Really, REALLY think about it.

Are you referring to the Hurling Disk? I don't understand much of it, but I'm pretty sure that it's related to the Dragon Break. Something about the middle dawn?...

According to the http://www.imperial-library.info/mwbooks/anuad.shtml, the mixed blood of Anu and Padomay created the Aedra. Am I close? And since when was the lore forum a riddle game?

It's just critical thinking, nothing bad. Critical thinking is good for the brain... however, since I don't have enough lore-knowledge to sufficiently answer the question, Proweler/946000: What does it say about Paradise and Mankar? I'm curious.

I'm not even sure what the Hurling Disk / middle dawn is, so I can't really give any sort of intelligent answer...

Of course there's not, the main quest is self-sufficient in that it can make its own lore...

I mean, I've read stuff in TIL, but I am still confused. My query was if someone could put the concept into layman's terms for me.

Yep, this is generally a forum where people ask questions concerning the lore and hopefully get answers... not a "Look it up for yourself!". I mean, I am interested in lore, and I've read the stuff on TIL, but I still don't get what you were implying.

On the supposition that I'm too stupid to find it out myself, but not too stupid to understand it if you just speak it out - will you do so, please? What does it say about Mankar Camoran and the Paradise?

Request seconded. I'd like to know about this, it isn't a connection that is obvious to me. :)

A Wheel inside of a Wheel inside of a Wheel.

The Aurbis was created when Anuiel and Padomay came together, referred to in The Anuad when it talks about the mingling of their blood. Anuiel - Light, Stasis, Solar, "Aedric." Padomay - Dark, Chaos, Lunar, "Daedric."

The Mundas was created when the Aedra and Lorkan got together, Lorkhans plan with the Aedra's "body parts". The rest follows as above.

Mankar's Paradise was created with the bood of the Aedra and the blood of the Daedra as suggested by the ingredients Martin needs to open the portal. Again as above.

As above so below. Paradise, like Mundas was an attempt at CHIM

So, steering the thread back from the mile-deep ditch it plunged into, is the opening of a portal to Mankar's Paradise the only use for a Daedric artifact other than using it for its obvious functions (as equipment, etc)?

Thanks again!
