I am nearing the last DF main quest (the one in Aetherius if what I heard is correct) and I would like to know: will the game end once I complete the quest or will I be free to play the game after it like in all other TES games?

And if not, is there a deadline on which I need to accept the last quest? I would like to buy a house, a ship, complete the book collection and other things before I end the game.

Once you finish the mainquest you can continue playing the game as long as you wish.
