Dagger Perks

Post » Tue Jan 04, 2011 2:38 pm

I was thinking that since daggers are now a stealth skill, what perks do you want to see for it? Because I have a feeling that if your dagger skill is high enough, then you will be able to get a perk to throw it. Any thoughts?

Damn it! I got to here... "....what perks do you want to see for it?" and thought "Throw them, sweet!"... and then read on. So I agree fully with ya! Actually, now I am thinking about it, it would be a really cool addition that could add a little complexity to stealth combat.

Nice try  but I don't think throwing weapons is in. I'm hoping for a perk that ignores ennemy armor, like if you were stabing your ennemy right where there is a hole in his armor (close to the neck for example)

I'm liking the sound of it, and it sounds plausible for a character who is quite dexterous/agile. How would you implement it? Are you thinking a percentage change to ignore armor 100%, or partially ignore, or....?

I think having a small chance of ignoring 100% armor would make sense, or maybe you could partially ignore armor but only when sneaking.

I reckon they will include increased critical chance for sneak attacks using daggers. And I know it isn't termed "armor bypass" but it would have a similar effect. It will be interesting to see indeed.

I like the idea :) you could throw your knife and then run in and pick it up off the enemy's body :) it would be handy for the stealth character that doesn't use bows, because they'd at least eventually get a ranged-assassination option

Daggers a stealth skill? uh? I suppose daggers will be used with one handed skill and I again suppose this fill be a fighting skill.

I think using daggers will increase your one handed skill but it's been confirmed in GI's building better combat that dagger perks will be under the stealth skill.

It's been said that while daggers are under one handed, their perks are infact considered stealth.

I don't seem letting us throw our dagger. But quite honestly I dont think it would be all THAT useful. If there are any more than 1 enemy you're pretty much screwed because now you no longer have your weapon. :P

I'm not sure I like how that sounds.

Yup, perks are more specific than skills in Skyrim

throwing daggers??? throwing? really? just get a bow for goodness sakes!

daggers are for sneaking in close and sliding them in between a couple of ribs or artfully dragging it across the jugular area. nough said.

I'm saying additional sneak damage-multiplier and armor bypass.

well it just makes sense that a perk that increase dagger damage when snaking is placed under the stealth skill. I also think such a perk would require the pc to have a certain skill level in both stealth and one handed to get the perk

Actually, throwing your Dagger at an opponent isn't that far fetched, considering there's a mod for Oblivion that allows you to do that, and much more. Deadly Reflexes 6, here's a video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PTbkhsVHHEE

What I mean is that this looks like sneak attack without daggers could be somewhat diminished.

the way I see it backstabbing should be a one stab instant kill move, for humanoids at least.

also perhaps you can do a finishing move by throwing the dagger at a fleeing target (like dark messiah), it would be just an animation thing and you would not really throw the weapon just a sprite thingy.

yes I'm a smarty pants :)

just solved 2 problems with one idea, bow to me.

I think they only want to make daggers more usefull by making it the ultimate weapon for assasins and leave swords and axes to warriors

Also with throwing daggers, there could be a throwing skill or perk... So like by that I mean, you have a chance to have the dagger hit the target hilt side... and the higher the skill / perk (just 1 or 2 max points for perk) you have a better chance of a successful (blade side) hit...

P.S. I'm not saying I want throwing daggers to be in, but I'd definatly vote yes for it to be in, though I won't be shattered if (when) it's not... This ^^^ is just an idea for if throwing daggers is ever in a ES game :D

make sense, but then short swords will be the new weaker weapons. Besides, I don't think they should penalize using bigger weapons in sneak, they should penalize shields.

When you throw knives/daggers, they rotate in air. So if your target is moving, it is very hard to actualy hit it with the correct side of the dagger. While arrows go straight, have more strenght (penetrates armor much better than throwing knives would even if they luckily hit with the right side) and are more precise. Arrows are hard to remove from your body, because of their "heads", which are shaped in a triangle, easy to enter, hard to exit. While daggers wont make much damage, they are also easy to remove from your body. Also, you got much more arrows than daggers.
Logically , no use of throwing daggers. They are just used slice critical spots.

Well every weapon should have a crit multiplier when sneaking but daggers should have the best multiplier. After all, it's alot easier to slice an ennemy's throat with a dagger (like in the inn in the trailer) than with a claymore.
