Dagger Vampires and hiding in society

Post » Wed Jan 19, 2011 10:47 pm

Just a simple question. I have never played Daggerfall and was wondering if the Daggerfall vampires have the same ability as their Cyrdillic counterparts to blend into society.

The answer is quite obviously yes. People won't notice if you're a vampire.

http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Daggerfall:Vampires_of_the_Iliac_Bay
"I saw a girl, a wench at my favorite tavern in that town, wandering toward me. I hailed her. She ignored me. I called her by her name, and she turned to me, smiling, but with an expression that told me she did not know who I was. I had visited her tavern on my way over to the mystery man's hideout, but she didn't know me!"

Due to the fact that she did not cower in fear or scream vampire was because he blended in society...he appeared human.

Also:

"Is this the moment for me to admit that there was a time I loved being a bloodsvcking creature of the night? It is not impossible to live only at night, merely occasionally inconvenient."
Could this imply that they walk in the day as well? Maybe, maybe not.

"If asked, he would tell me about the Montalion's newest alliances, who they were manipulating, who they were stalking."

Manipulations is a similar tactic used by the Cyrodiilic vampires. The daggerfall bestiary also mentioned vampires influencing society. Strange.

If you are wondering if DF vamps will look like normal people when they feed, the answer is no; they're ugly 24/7

They still look like vamps 24/7, where as the Cyrodiil type can look not like a vampire (save for the eyes)

You know, playing the games, like MW, Daggerfall, and OB (as an unfed vamp) as a vampire for a general idea would be a good idea. Things like the eyes and skin become unnatural looking, the noticeably large fangs, skin becoming highly pale.

It is quite easy to tell if someone is a vampire when you get a look at their face.

Check the first character in this page:

http://www.icehouse.net/radu/dagger/menu.htm

The Breton vampires are really really creepy. One of the (many) instances in DF where I jumped off my chair after looking at the screen (my first character to contract vampirism was a Breton).

Seridur was kind of different. He was a vampire, but no one would ever think so.

It's kind of difficult to tell, when you say fed vampires in Oblivion look normal. In morrowind I didn't notice I was fighting vampiers for the fist time after I discovered vampire dust on their dead bodies. From a distance, they all look human, there are no really different vampires?

Uh, yea there are different vampires. There are over 100 distinct types of vampires in Tamriel.

And you must have eye problems if you did not see any difference from vampires and normal people in Morrowind.

So...what you are saying is the fangs, the distorted voice, glowing eyes, and pale skin didn't raise any red flags? Well, if they weren't facing you, at a distance, and it was dark, it can be difficult at first. But once it came closer and started looking at me, yeah they really are different.

Also, when an OB vamp hasn't fed for some time, their face looks like they have been starved for months, their eyes are much more piercing, much much much paler, and they really sport some nasty fangs. Those that do feed regularly, still look normal and not cursed (save for the eyes)

First sentance: "There are over one hundred distinct kinds of vampire in Tamriel. The Iliac Bay region alone has nine variations with unique powers and abilities. I have this information not only because I have been researching this blight of the world for the last ten years of my life, but because for the seven years before that, I was one of the creatures."

They aren't hard to spot ,it's just that there are lots of weird faces and people in Morrowind, so I thought I was just fighting some special NPCs.
Not that any are hard to notice, but are there any vampiers that are reallly different from human-looking?

Just because you are easily mistaken, doesn't mean everyone else is.

And yes they are, just look at the vamps that haven't fed in OB, your character in DF, and the MW kinds. If you are taking about the difference between http://www.gamekyo.com/Webmasters/Images/3476620060712_035608_2_big.jpg http://images.uesp.net//5/5e/MW-NPCs-Raxle_Berne.JPG http://www.icehouse.net/radu/dagger/..%5Cchars%5Ckeophex.gif, but definitely not, to looking http://www.games-workshop.com/MEDIA_CustomProductCatalog/m1182145_99060207146_VCStrigoi1Main_873x627.jpg http://www.games-workshop.com/MEDIA_CustomProductCatalog/m1184718_99120207012_VCCryptGhoulsMain_873x627.jpg http://www.games-workshop.com/MEDIA_CustomProductCatalog/m1183813_99110207166_VCVarghulfMain_873x627.jpg any sense of the word, we have yet to see or hear of any that looks like a complete abomination.

Really pale skin, noticeably large fangs, starved looking face, glowing to blood colored eyes seem to be the general feature shared among vamps.

I just don't see how some vampires can blend in society when their red eyes are a dead give away.

OK, I see. Morrowind vampires are about as ugly as the general population, though.

 oh hush you. There's a difference between vamp ugly and normal ugly. If you want to believe that the two are nearly indistinguishable, that's your deal.

As I keep trying to show, there are pretty noticeable difference between vampires and those who are not vampires based of physical looks, which also fits into why the cyrodiilic clan is able to blend into society due to their power of being able to rejuvenate their looks into their pre-vampire form.

If your whole argument is based on "everyone is ugly, therefore you can't tell, and there is no vampire look" it kind of falls short when you really are not pointing into specifics or examples, other than saying everyone looks ugly, which is a pretty general assertion.

No, it's not that everyone is ugly. It's that everyone has a gaunt face and paleness of the skin varies extremely. There aren't "normal" looking NPCs in Morrowind, the only difference between that vampire and many imperial NPCs is that it has pale eyes.
