Daggerfall and my mouse

EDIT: never mind, changing something in Dosbox's options fixed it. ^-^

I caved in and downloaded Daggerfall. I installed it and Dosbox, no problems whatsoever. The game starts up perfectly, everything seems to work except... I can't swing my weapons.
I changed the mouse to view mode to see if that made a difference but it doesn't. No matter how long I hold down the 'swing weapon' button, it's not doing anything. I first thought it was my mouse because it's a pretty fancy one with extra buttons for gaming, but when I changed 'swing weapon' to a button on the keyboard it still made no difference.

So basically I can't hit and kill the rat in the beginning dungeon.

Any ideas what might be causing this and how I can fix it? I hear so many good stuff about Daggerfall I really want to play it.

You don't say so, but are you holding down the button and moving the mouse around at the same time?

I tried that both in cursor and in view mode and I still can't swing. In view mode while holding down the swing button and moving the mouse around doesn't do anything at all.

And you have your weapon equipped and readied--as in, you can see it on your screen?

edit: what did you have to change in the DOSBox options?
