Daggerfall/Arena Download

Post » Thu Aug 19, 2010 3:57 am

I can't seem to find the original free downloads from bethesda's site. I looked at the sticky topic on the top of "Past Elder Scrolls Games" aswel, the links are broken.
I just want somewhere that I can trust has no viruses. Thank you.

The problem is, when bethesda setup their site for the Skyrim trailer/annoncement they sort of removed all the other improtant info that was up there....

You can get a version here that has already been fullly set up for modern computers:

And for arena the same thing here:

I wasn't aware that there was an ArenaSetup as well. Thanks for the link!

Might i suggest this here, a quick easy auto-setup for daggerfall. its a project so that novice pc users can doubleclick a file, click next, next and next. then finish and just play the game via a shortcut without any problems. i myself have made an almost the exact same thing for arena, even fixed the keybindings to match up to those of TES3 Morrowind. but i've only got 2 things i need to do regarding that. 1. find a way so that it'll close the program when i tell it to close the program (when i do it results in a black screen that needs to be alt-tabbed/ctrl+escaped) then i just need to make an installer. :D

I've gotta question. Using these dl's posted here, once I get Daggerfall, where is the z.cfg file? I don't see it. Does it not have one?

Wanted to use the invincibility mod (sue me) and I can't find that blasted file. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It should be the last file in the Daggerfall Folder. A z with out the extension part of the name (.cfg), I assume.

One can open it with notepad.

Alright, found that and opened it with notepad. However, after changing the 0 to 1, I try to save and it says it can't because the file name is incorrect or something. Nothing I do works, changing the name, trying to save it somewhere else, or even changing the file type.

For saving games and trying to modify z.cfg, make sure that notepad and dosbox are being run in 'administrator mode'. Since the folders are in the program files location, administrator mode is needed to make changes (save game, modify z.cfg, etc)..

Never install stuff to C:\Program Files, it's just not worth the hassle.
