Daggerfall Attribute Cap Question

Post » Thu May 03, 2012 8:53 am

I apologize if it has already been covered some where. I did a lot of searching and didn't find much besides irrelevant posts. So my question is what is the attribute cap in Daggerfall? I assumed it was 100 but at Level 7 I noticed my INT could go over 100. Then I noticed a YouTube video of a Lvl 18 Mage with only 100 INT. So is the attribute not worth pushing past 100 or did the UESP auto-install version with all the patches include some mod that allows me to go over 100? I am mainly curious because I would rather not go past 100 if it is not apart of the vanilla game's balance. Though it would also be helpful if someone said it is not worth pushing an attribute past 100. So if anyone could please explain. I would greatly appreciate it!

There is a patch called DFSKills that allows Skills and Attributes to exceed 100. It's likely that you have this installed (or used a pre-packaged install that had it installed) because normally Attributes can't go over 100 and Skills can only go over 100 with enchantments.

I now see what it is. DagSkills 0.96. Comes packaged with the installer it seems. Didn't realize the installer would have more than just patches/fixes for the game itself. Then again I should have known better. I had to restart because of some grievous error with the mages guild quests which was causing a freeze whenever I got a quest reward and clicked accept. I checked the installer and sure enough I noticed a section named "Unofficial Quest Packs" Which did indeed add several mage guild quests. - I don't know if it was the cause or not but with as buggy as Daggerfall already is. I decided it was best not to add anymore stuff which could cause further bugs. Anyway, appears I overlooked another addition which is pretty annoying in my opinion. Though it does claim to fix skills and attribute rising so maybe that is why it is included in the "Unofficial Fixes" section. Thanks for the response. I will just stick to keeping my skills capped at 100 outside enchantment bonuses.
