Daggerfall bugs?

Post » Tue Jul 27, 2010 3:58 pm

In the past 10 minutes or so, I've encountered these problems:

- Go to a dungeon to pick up some dude and bring them back to someone in a tavern. When I pick the dude up, I got an error message about some text id missing or something. (Do these get logged anywhere?)
- Go to get a new quest at Mages Guild. I'm supposed to go to Gothfort, visit some residence and see some dude. I go to Gothfort, but when I talk to people in the street about "General" so I can get directions to the residence, the spot in their dialog that would normally have the residence name is blank.
- Reload from previous save, get a new quest: I'm to go kill an Imp in "Palace of Charton", but when I try to fast travel there, it tells me there is no such place. I know that spelling of placenames in fast travel is a problem, but I've quadruple-checked what I have in my Log with what I'm typing into the fast travel interface.

Any suggestions?

I don't know about the 1st problem.

Try asking about "people" for the 2nd problem.

Did you try to fast-travel to "Charton" or to "Palace of Charton"? In this case it should have been "Charton".

Ah, that could be it. I tried "Palace of Charton", as the fast travel find function always took the full name before. I'll try just plain old "Charton" next time.

If it were a dungeon that you were looking for, the exact spelling would be crucial. In this case you need find the town of "Charton", and then find the palace.

D'OH! Had that problem last night with the Palace of Ipshead.. I did find Ipshead, and it was a town, but I wasn't thinking along those lines.. I was sure I was looking for a "dungeon" named "Palace of Ipshead." Ah, well.. I just restarted from before accepting that quest anyway, but now that you've given me the [censored]slap, I'll be prepared next time.
