Daggerfall: Can't Create Custom Classes?

Post » Wed Aug 18, 2010 5:35 pm

Greetings, fellow RPG junkies. A while back, I had to reformat my computer. Prior to said reformat, I had a copy of the free installation of Daggerfall from the official website here (from the first release, pre-Skyrim announcement), and was able to install and play it without any problems.

However, I have recently re-installed the game after its re-release here on the official website, and now I am unable to access the custom class option during character creation. I've tried uninstalling and re-installing the game AND the associated DOS emulator several times, but have been unable to resolve the issue.

Does anyone known a way for me to fix this? Is anyone else having the same issue? Am I simply forgetting how to access the custom class generation option, if applicable?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

hmmm... the option appears in a big box when you select your race, beneath 'answer questions to determine class'

saying you cant create a custom class would imply you cant even start a new character :s

It should be at the bottom of the list of classes. The option's not there?

Try http://theelderscrolls.wiwiland.net/?title=Daggerfall_:_DaggerfallSetup_EN to install DosBox and Daggerfall. It will at least save you time with un-/reinstalling.

Indeed, I believe I recall the option being under the class list selection before, though I could be wrong in this. If this is the case, then the option to create a custom class is missing. In fact, even if it is not in the pre-generated class list, then it is still missing, as no seperate, valid option appears, either.

If anyone has experience with problems in the Daggerfall coding, then assistance would, again, be greatly appreciated, as would the advice and experience of anyone who has had similar problems and subsequently dealt with them.

Of course, if no one is capable of assisting me, then wish me luck, I suppose. =X
