im having some problems with daggerfall. i cant get out of privateers hold because i always die to the skeleton down there. plus i cant figure out how to pick up weapons or armor. any tips really appreciated!

The skeleton warrior in the throne room can be bypassed. Just keep looking for an alternate route, it isn't that hard to find.

When you find a treasure pile, click on it and it will display alongside your inventory. Choose the option you want for each item (you don't have to equip everything just to pick it up).

Try to use a blunt weapon against the skeleton, it hits for double damage if you have good blunt weapon and strength that will help a lot. Otherwise just skip him.

To pick up things, press the "activate" key with it centered in your screen. The items in the column on the right side of the screen are all the items in that pile, click "remove" and then click them to move them from the pile/body/chest to your inventory.

Nobody told him to put it into View mode? That sounds like the problem.... so hit escape and click Full Screen,then Mouse and click View. Then look atcontrolstosee howthey have changed to a WASD style. Not too difficult to memorize these new keys as they are standard keys in today's games.

Also, if you get any bottles, do an INFO on them to see what they are. I got an Orc's Strength potion and was able to (just) deal with the skeleton with my elven sword!

thx guys i got it going good now but im still having problems escaping the privateers hold. where exactly am i supposed to go?

It can take you multiple times to get through Privateer's Hold. You also definitely have to get a Walkthrough/FAQ or go to the Wiki site so you can gen up on monsters and weapons.Also be willing to run away, you don't level up by killing monsters,you level up by using your weapons and other skills. So, if you have an iron sword and no magic, for example, go straight past the room with the imp and hopeto get a better weapon later so you can go back, if you want to. A lot of people have a problem with the skeleton, but there is a route you can take where you can bypass him. Daggerfall is probably unlikeany RPG you have played, and some thought is required or the game can be very tough on you!
