Daggerfall DOSBox help

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 3:10 am

What do i do... My daggerfall directory is...

C:\Games\Dagger and the 2 files that go into daggerfall are called 'Dagger.exe and NoCD.exe' and they both launch the program 'Fall' but it never loads, the DOSBox screen just stays black.

i did this...

Z:\>mount c c:\games\Dagger
drive c is now mounted as \games\dagger

Z:\>C:
C:\>Dagger
Dagger Fall is now loading-please wait

And then nothing happened. the screen just stayed black forever.

Can anyone help me?

You're doing it wrong. First, did you edit your Z.cfg file? If you didn't, this is what it's supposed to look like,

type dfall_hugepath c:\dagger\arena2\pathcd d:\dagger\arena2\fadecolor 0mapfile drendergame 1user 1startMap 179region 17helmet 0maxSpeed 200controls betaplyr.datmaps mapsave.sav

After that you have to type this upon starting Dosbox,

mount c c:\gamesc:cd\daggerfall.exe z.cfg

This is all correct except for the "pathcd" line. Change it to

pathcd c:\dagger\arena2\

Keep in mind you have to have the "huge" installation for this to work.

oook one more problem, i locked the mouse yeess.

Then clicked Start New game and DOSBox closed.

My memsize is at 45 should i decrease it because i put it to that thinking the game just was't loading cus not enough memory. it was at 25 before which was what i use to play Arena, Microsoft flight sim 5, and Settlers 2 gold (Though i also have original settlers 2, but i no needs DOSBox to run it?!)

so yea, i brb though cus it is supper time...

I have memsize at 40 (have also tried 63) but I still crash on a semi-regular basis when loading saved games (usually if I do it in fairly quick succession - like if I'm having to reload 4 times for a hard battle or reloading to get a better levelup) and occasionally when I start it up.

So I think Daggerfall (in Dosbox) is just a game that crashes occasionally when loading up (or starting) a game.

So, maybe if you try a second time it will work?

Just a thought.
