Daggerfall: Firing a bow

Post » Sat May 28, 2011 6:39 am

Having recently installed a game and begun working my way through the starter dungeon, I find myself having an odd problem. I can't fire a bow.

It's equipped, as are the arrows (i believe, they are highlighted in yellow on the equipment screen), and when I pull out the bow to fire it, there is an arrow in the bow. But after that, I cant make my guy draw the nocked arrow and release it. He just stands there with the bow in hand. Having used the sword already, I learned the weird style of swinging a sword, so I tried the same thing with the bow (holding the melee swing button and swinging my mouse around) but got nothing from it. At this point I don't know if it's simply a weird process or my game/dosbox is bugged.

Any help on this?

Two points: One, if you are view mode, just put the target in the centre of the screen and right click to fire an arrow. Two, go into your inventory, choose INFO and check the arrows. If they say 'broken' chuck them, as they are no good and they won't fire.

If you are not in view mode, use search for the word 'controls' and you'll find a couple threads that will tell you how to do it.
