Daggerfall Glitch: Dungeon missing collision

Post » Mon Apr 04, 2011 9:58 am

Well, I have an odd glitch in Daggerfall. While doing a quest for the DB I was exploring the dungeon looking for the target when suddenly I fell through the floor. Puzzled by this I reloaded and tried again, and again fell. I attempted to go around however I soon found that almost that entire section of dungeon had no floor collision. What can I do about this? Will fixsave work?

No magic skill.

IIRC, your character in daggerfall can fall through/walk through walls or dungeon pieces and nearly anywhere. (IIRC) It's a problem that gets worse the faster the game runs. In dosbox, you can throttle the game down to i guess 10-20 fps and it is much harder to fall through things. I think there is a cheat command, alt-f11 (someone who has this fresh in mind is bound to show up in case i am making mistakes) that teleports you back to the last place you were standing before you fell into the void, like people call it. That doesnt always work though since you can get teleported back close enough to fall in again, but it can help.

It can save lots of trouble to save the game very often.

Here is a thread with other things that might help : http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=1013070

Odd thing is this is the only dungeon that has been that bad. I have been in dozens and only had the occasional fall out of the world and one instance of the enemy I was supposed to kill falling out of the world, but fixsave took care of that. This dungeon has one whole section that lacks floor. By section I mean one of the randomly chosen pre-built sections that are slapped on to the dungeon. I thought maybe it was just a bad joint so tried clipping past it a few feet but found that the whole area was wanky when I turned clipping back on.

Oh well, I will just use the no-clip cheat for that section.
