Daggerfall is indeed a huge game

I just went and researched a little about the 2nd game, Daggerfall, and when I opened up the list of locations, I got this http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Daggerfall:Places

Wow, just wow... How many freakin' cities are there? And it takes place in both Hammerfell and High Rock. It's stunning the size of the game world when thought of the year the game was made. 1996, if I'm not wrong? I wish the newer games where this huge too. Maybe with the new generation in gaming technology, it could be possible. Who knows.

My dream game is pretty much something the size of Daggerfall, only more detailed and less generic. I'd happily settle for mediocre graphics, as long as the art style is good.

The gameworlds of Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim are fine for those games... but I think there will come a point in the future when the scale needs to be more realistic.

I also looked a little into the notable characters. The character models are very good, the faces look really pretty and the evil characters have a very sinister feel to them. The robes some of the female mages wear made me laugh, though. They could've very well worn bikinis, no doubt advlt clothing mods keep coming up to the new games...

3443. That's just towns. There are over 15,000 locations in total.

Yeah, that's one of the few things that gets me about Daggerfall (Karethys! *shakes fist*). Although it isn't as bad as some games, and at least they make the men join in on the act on occasion. :P Plus the way said women take part in the story of the game definitely makes up for it, in my opinion - don't want to play it up too much, it's certainly not perfect, but it's something that's always pleasantly surprised me.

As for the locations, even after 15 years and all the virtual wandering I've done in the Iliac Bay there's still places I've never visited (though I think I've been to each kingdom at least once). Especially dungeons. To be fair, those get repetitive a bit because of how they're put together, but there's still a few gems here and there, and I might always have missed someplace obscure. :)
