Daggerfall on a Macbook Pro

Post » Fri Nov 18, 2011 12:45 pm

Hi all.

Just bought a macbook pro. Just wondering if I can run daggerfall on it? I took at look at the DOSBOX website, but it mentions I have to use the terminal. I've never had a mac before and have only used command promt in windows, so I don't know how different it is for mac.

If it is possible to run daggerfall on a mac, could someone tell me how to? Thanks!

I'm hoping it will be similar (or identical :P) to windows. I don't want to download it though until someone can confirm.

All it says is DOS is confusing for Mac users, so it helps them if they've used the terminal. DOSbox provides its own command prompt. Since you've used the one in Windows you shouldn't have too much problem. Daggerfall will run ok on just about any laptop made in the last 10 years, no matter what OS it's running. On really olde ones like my 1Ghz Pentium-III it sometimes takes forever loading new areas though.

I've never actually tried installing DOSbox on OSX because I do all my work in Windows on my Macbook. The only thing to keep in mind is when the instructions say to modify the config file to use the instructions in the OSX section of the DOSbox FAQ and that you will probably want to mount the games from your home folder like in the FAQ instead of the C drive.

I think with the Boxer emulator, it doesn't have any music for the game, yet it still has sound effects. For me, that's how Daggerfall's working. Strange...
