Arg my copy didn't have one. :(

But I *think* there was an advertisemant that in the game box saying I could get one if I subscribed the game... I think.. it's been too long.

By the way, since we're talking about Daggerfall merchandise, does anyone have the Daggerfall Chronicles? How is it? I've considered more than once to buy it but now with the UESP offering all the information about the game, I don't think it's necessary.

It came with the Deluxe Edition of Arena. In addition to the mouse pad it included the Codex Scientia hint book.

Thanks for the pic. I had a feeling after I had posted that it was Arena that had the map of tamriel mouse mat, but I wasn't 100% sure. I bet the Deluxe version of Arena will be worth a bit of money on ebay.

There's good tables and formulas that UESP doesn't have. http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=627504&hl=.

Who even uses mouse pads anymore? :stare:

Still, I, too, am interested in purchasing a copy of The Daggerfall Chronicles. Sounds interesting.

Daggerfall Chronicles was a great guide for its time, and there's some good information that's still not on UESP. I bought my copy way back in 1997--by now a lot of the pages have fallen out, and the ones that remain are covered with my own handwritten notes. It's quite a sight. I would have NEVER found my way thought the main quest without it. Back then, the UESP was fairly new, and the only source for good information was the guidebook or the Bethesda BBS. (And a host of old fansites that seem to have long since fallen by the wayside.)

Is it still useful in 2009? Not really. But it's a cool Elder Scrolls artifact. What I liked most about it was there was an effort to provide a little bit of extra lore for every quest, and there are still some tidbits of information that I think only appear in the Daggerfall Chronicles (though I hear much of it has since been retconned.) There was actually a family tree of the royal families of all three kingdoms, a rundown of the game's backstory, a timeline for all three eras of Tamriel's history, a sizable description of every major artifact, a great bestiary, and a lot of other goodies. Like Jormungandr's review says, it also seems to have been written before the game was finished, so it's another good source for frustrating information about the Daggerfall that could've been.

So I can't recommend it as actually being useful for playing the game in the age of the UESP. It does, however, go well beyond the level of information in most game guides. Basically, if you only buy one printed ES guidebook, Daggerfall Chronicles is the one to get.

My Daggerfall Chronicles is like new. I found Mark Stinson's online guide to be far more valuable.

I own the Daggerfall Chronicles, and while it is a good and fun read, it really isn't going to teach you anything you couldn't find online. I agree with Dr. Memory, The Beginner's Guide to Daggerfall by Mark Stinson is an excellent website that gives you everything you need to know.

My copy came with a miniature too, I kept it on top of my monitor for years. I had forgotten about it. It's probably around here somewhere, I'll have a look tomorrow :>

I second that. :stare:

By the way thank you Jormungandr for the comparison of both guides. I'll try to get the Chronicles just to take a look at the interesting things inside, especially what was not included in the game. It could help me with that mod I'm planning for Oblivion.

Stonefrog, they are sold at good prices on http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/0929843207/sr=8-1/qid=1241382380/ref=olp_tab_used?ie=UTF8&coliid=&me=&qid=1241382380&sr=8-1&seller=&colid=&condition=used
I wouldn't trust the one at 2$ though. :P

I've just ordered a copy. Wohoo! It will be a nice read. :) I'll receive it in about a month... oh well. It will be worth the wait I'm sure.

I hope the winner will not manifest his presence on the forums. If it happens, his days are over. Hundreds of Daggerfall fans will break in his home and get Bethesda's Holy Grail.

I've just received the Daggerfall Chronicles and had a quick look on it.

The tables are very interesting to look at and so are the formulas. There's also the lore and the history of Tamriel from the Mythic Era to the 3rd. I know that the UESP and the Imperial Library has these informations, but it's so much better to read it in a book. :)

The information about the city sign posts is cool too. It explains how the wars would have worked out, plagues, famine, faction persecution, witch hunting, etc.

I'm happy of my purchase and I recommend it to any Daggerfall player who'd like deep information about the game's mechanics!

The dungeon walk through part was the most useful part of the df chronicles I thought, I don't know how people beat the main quest without it.
