However Google shows a few (very few!) sites about stuff like this ...

... any recommendations?

Thanks!

About Addquest, the description is "CompUSA Special Edition" Patch, which implies it may not be applicable for the European Version of Daggerfall?

EDIT: What about Questpak.zip?

The QUESTPAK - Quest Pack v1 includes all third-party quests and inofficial quest bug fixes that were made for Daggerfall up to 01 Oct. 2005. Also included amongst others are the CompUSA Special Edition Patch, XTRAQST, XTRAQST2, XQSE and patches. This file comes from http://aggelon.free.fr/frenchdf where Daggerfall is currently translated into French. For more informations see the __README.PDF file within.

CompUSA is a corporation, and the added quests were a promotional deal so there is no danger in applying it to the European version

Ghanburighan's fighters' guild quest pack, I think it's called Die by the Sword or similar.
Most of the DF mods are all together on a few sites. I think most of them aren't worth playing. Andyfall is.

I really wish there was a Daggerfall ESCS... and a way to modify the texture and game files...

You can edit a lot of the files, and the textures in the game. AndyPic for editing pretty much anything visual, and uhm. http://www.svatopluk.com/ and [url=http://www.uesp.net]UESP]/url] have lists and other stuff, its not as easy and MW or OB. But it is doable for the most part, quests, new creatures, etc.

EDIT: What about Questpak.zip?

An excellent addition in my opinion. Really adds a lot more quests and seems to increase the frequency as well so you have more to do. Not many of them are extreme dungeon raids either so they really help bring those days waltzing around town to life.

What about the http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Daggerfall:Files? I have the official patch and the quest addon from the posted thread about getting Daggerfall to run on the DOSBox. Do I have to worry about mod conflicts? Are there any mods you would recommend to someone playing Daggerfall for the first time? Or, should I try to do things vanilla (bar the patches), and then add stuff when/if I play the game again with a new character?

I don't like using Daggerfall mods as they generally lead to some inconsistencies or are a bit too sloppy for my tastes, but I have always used DFQFIX and QUESTPAK.

Main thing I didn't like about Andyfall is that it made the basic leather armor look like biker gear (on the females anyway). There was a nice comfortable simplicty about the standard leather.

Oh it does? I don't remember I haven't used Andyfall for a long time. I loved the guards on horses though. But it did look odd inside buildings. :P

As far as I know, you'd have to be a programming genius to be able to mod Arena. :brokencomputer:

agreed, they could have used both, guards on horses varied with walking ones. or even citizens on horses.

Depends on what you mod. Replacing images (including sprites and textures) isn't too hard. Text can be changed too. There's a team that translated Arena into French, for example.

However, adding new monsters, changing NPC behavior, modifying towns, creating dungeons... That's a whole other kettle of fish.

I'd be interested in seeing that mod. Do you have a link? :)

I bought my Arena copy on Ebay for 1$. No one bet on it because the box and manual were in French (But the game isn't). Being French myself and the fact that the guy who was selling it lived 2 hours by car from my house, I bought it. :D

I use DagPic, which I guess is not really a true mod, but it does modify images. I just use it to add "hair" to my character. :hubbahubba:

Here is the website address. http://www.projet-french-arena.org/wiki/index.php I am very interested in the INTRO01.IMG fix they have translated into English, but I am unable to figure out how they did it.
