Now I can finally play Daggerfall without paying the ridiculous price for a retail copy.

No, but seriously, it just took .5 seconds to download. According to other posts in this thread, I assume something went wrong, which is why the file is corrupt.

What's happening?

As with the download for Arena, the file will often get corrupted. Clear your temporary internet files and try it again. As I'm sure you can imagine, the servers are under some strain right now

Should I DL it? It sounds ok, I just don't wanna deal with the crappy graphics.

Trust me, when ya play this game, graphic would be the LAST thing in ya mind.

Damn, should've sold my copy when I had the chance.

I bet at least half the people who download this and actually make it through the dosbox configuration will just quit once they're killed by the skeleton in Privateer's Hold because they only have an iron wakazashi.

I downloaded Daggerfall okay but I don't understand the Dos box, its like a command prompt thing I don't know what to type in.

I assume this will take care of the fact that no installer was downloaded with the Daggerfall file?

EDIT: Ok, this isn't working. When I try to extract the file, it says "no files to extract". I try clicking on it, it says "invalid or corrupt file". Should I try downloading again?

I can't download it to, stopped at 90mb and 30mb twice. Try downloading tomorrow.

The instructions are pretty much straightforward, so read each line carefully and just do as it says.

No then, graphics are old. It's all about gameplay baby, as it should be. New gamers probably won't like this - no worries.

Very awesome. I try my best to get mad at Bethesda over certain things, but every time I do they do something like this and restore my faith. It's been a pattern ever since the first Daggerfall patch came out.

I have never seen a studio so generous and in touch with their fans as Bethesda is. I think a lot of us have been spoiled by that, and can tend to take it for granted.

It depends where you installed the game. Mine is in C:\DOSGAMES\ so I go (well I made this happen automatically but this is what you should do.)

Mount C C:\DOSGAMES - So put whatever your drive letter is and where the game is in here.
CD DAGGER - Change directory to Daggerfall
Dir /p - To list all files in the folder in pages
DAGGER.exe - To run the game.

Voila! This was on a retail copy though so I had to make config adjustments.

EDIT: Yeah... Read the installation instructions...

This was unexpected, what a nice surprise

. Such a great game for claassics. Old lucasarts comes to steam, new Mechwarrior announced and Mech 4 coming out for free d/l and now yet again another great classic for free.

Why do they need source code? They just release the executables and stuff, that's kinda why you need dosbox.

Aren't there BOOBIES in Daggerfall? Won't someone whine and complain and then no more Daggerfall for us?

Oh it's M so it's 17. Didn't realize they gave it an ESRB. I imagine you have to now though.

Hannuka, servers are strained and it's happened to several people including me, just try again in awhile.

That's been an ongoing rumor, but it's never been substantiated. Although source code would only matter if they wanted to port/patch the game, which isn't the case here.

Personally I figured the nudity would be enough to keep it from being released. It's less explicit (and less clear) than your average Renaissance painting but some people really get their panties in a bunch over nudity in games.

Are there any differences between this re-release and the retail version? I struggled hugely to get this game working before the massive DOSBox update and even when I did I had to keep messing around with cycles to get it working smoothly.
