That was a glitched invitation to her wedding.

I thought that was described as a card delivered by a boy in a livery of Waycrest uniform This was just ' a letter is delivered by a boy who runs off'

The letter you recieve immediately when sleeping in civilization after Morgiah's wedding quest IS the wedding announcement if I recall correctly. :)

Well, I will have to assume that's what it was and hope the game doesn't fall to pieces because of a glitch. It's the one thing I worry about long-term with this game!

The invitation to Morgiah's Wedding is not important but if you got the card at level 4 (Minor Spoilers. The original poster should read them though)
Spoiler
it could be from Prince Lhotun which is essential to the main quest. My advice would be to go talk to him in case this is main quest related.

Hmph. It seems to me that the "glitchyness" of Daggerfall has reached mythic proportions. Perhaps a reality check is in order.

It's true that there were some problems with the game as originally shipped -- nothing that broke the main quest, but a few bugs. By patch 213 almost all of these bugs were remedied.

It's true that Daggerfall is a bit "crash prone," that if you sit and play for 4 or 5 hours straight, you can expect a crash or two. Or some other inconvenience, like falling into the void.

But in fact, generally speaking, Daggerfall gameplay is really solid. I've certainly never heard of a glitch so severe it broke the main quest. In all the time I've played it, I've encounter one (maybe two) dungeons that weren't contiguous. (Believe me, I've played it a lot.) The problem is really rare and I rank the possibility of running into two such dungeons in a row at very close to zero. I've played it for hours and hours and hours with nothing more annoying than the occasional fall into the void or CTD.

This ought to be made clear. Daggerfall is one of the most popular computer games ever published. It sold like gangbusters when it was first released, and there are a lot of us out here who swear by it. If it was as buggy as legend would have it, believe me it wouldn't have the following it does. All subsequent Bethesda titles build on the success of Daggerfall, and this is worth keeping in mind. By today's standards, it's pretty buggy; but that's a long way from saying it's so buggy as to be unplayable.

Just go with the flow, Humorguy, and enjoy. Some things take time. There were secret rooms it took me years to find. Morrowind holds your hand; Daggerfall doesn't.

Thanks for that, will check it out just in case - but again, it was a letter, not a card, that was given to me.

EDIT: The person did not respond, so it could have come from him.

Ok, it was the letter from The King and Queen of Wayrest about Morgiah marrying some Altmer. Should be no problem then.

This is probably a letter from Prince Helseth, which you get around 3rd/4th level. It is a known glitch in that it sometimes does not appear in your inventory. The letter is asking you to come speak to the Prince in Wayrest. It is part of the main quest chain, but optional.

I wouldn't worry too much about the main quest glitching out so that you can not complete the game--in the two dozen times or so I've played through the main quest with the newest patch, I've never actually encountered a game-ending glitch. When the game was released, there were several quest ending glitches in the main chain, so Bethesda was pretty careful when they released patches to fix them. Apparently they didn't look as closely to the optional quests, though...

Are you certain? I believe he is always sitting on a table in the large room behind the throne.

Edit: Just went in-game and confirmed. Helseth is sitting on the table in the large room behind the throne. You have to go through two sets of large wooden double doors. I can't think of any instance where he disappears throughout the game..

Okay, thanks for the help, didn't want to go through any of the doors in case those guards came after me. yes, he was sitting on the table, but I got nothing when I clicked on him in dialogue mode, so the letter didn't come from him.

UESP says this about the marriage card:

"At some point in the game after you complete this quest and if your reputation with Morgiah is greater than 10, you will receive an engraved card from someone dressed in the livery of Wayrest. When you go into your inventory, you may not be able to find it. This is actually an invitation to Morgiah's Wedding ceremony. Don't worry though, you can't actually 'attend' the ceremony so missing it means nothing to the Main Quest."

Now I know I get +10 for delivering the letter to the King of Worms, and I have not done anything else for her, so my reputation with her should be 10,but not 'more than ten'.

My message definitely was the standard 'boy gives you a letter and runs away' type pop-up. Was not described as the above UESP quote at all.

The only thing I can think of, if it was indeed from Helseth, is that you have done Elysana's Robe which interferes with Helseth's quest. If you complete the former quest, Helseth will no longer offer you his.

It's been awhile since I've done the early points of the main quest, so I honestly don't remember what the wedding invitation's message is...

If it's neither, I guess you have a mystery on your hands. ;) What level were you when you received the letter? The only other low level (under level 5) quest I can remember that begins with a letter is one that sends you to Queen Aubk-i of Daggerfall.

Well,I haven't done the Elysana's Robe quest, so it cannot be that.

I am level 4 and had just done the Morgiah quest, rested at an inn, got a quest from the innkeeper and had just left that inn when the boy arrived with the letter.

I will go off and see Queen Aubk-i, and see if she has anything to say to me....!

Thanks for all your super help scampers!

EDIT: Well, unless the Queen Aubk-i is also in a special part of the Daggerfall Palace, she's not there either! Which means it could not have been from her either! The mystery thickens!

Queen Aubk-i is near the throne, it's Queen Mynisera in a different part of the castle. Helseth is sitting on the table in the backroom of Wayrest. Don't get too hung up about who it was in the message that delivered the letter.

Queen Aubk-i is in the main chamber of Daggerfall's palace, up the stairs standing between the two thrones.

If you haven't done the "Checking up on Nulfaga" quest, that's probably the quest you will get from her. Which means the letter would not be from her.. quite interesting.

Reading up on the main quest chain, the only quests that begin at Level 4 that involve a letter are Prince Helseth's quest (which, if the quest is broken do not worry as it is not a required quest) and Aubk-i, which is actually delivered after you've done her first quest "Checking up on Nulfaga". All of the other quests I was reading up on appear to require Level 5, including the quest from Prince Lhotun.

My best bet is the letter was from either Helseth and the quest is broken, or from Aubk-i if you've done her first quest.

Haven't done the first Checking up on Nulfaga quest (you guys are making me feel I haven't done much at all!)

But anyway, i went back to Daggerfall (spending 100's in gold with all this travelling from Wayrest to Daggerfall and back again!) and spoke to the Queen, and she offered me the Nulfega quest. Now as that quest doesn't start with a letter, the letter I did get could not have come from her!

Also,in all this travelling and re-loads, I have lost a level up somethere,so I am actually level 3, not level 4, if that helps! I would expect to go to level 4 very soon though

If you got the letter at lvl 3 after finishing Morgiah's quest and did not do the Nulfaga quest you simply did not get Morgiah's wedding invitation. (You can't attend anyway).

Ok, answer the following questions so we can determine what letter you got.

1) What level were you when you got the letter?

2) Do you have the DQfix enabled? (Fixes a lot of bugs in quests)

3) Did you get Morgiah's letter asking you to meet with her? (It will be in your inventory)

4) Have you finished Morgiah's Wedding?

5) Have you finished Concerns for Nulfaga? (Abuki's first quest?)

Answer these and we can continue to add questions later if necessary.

I can answer most of these questions simply by reading the thread.

1.) He was level 3.
2.) Don't know. It wouldn't be a bad idea.
2 (again?).) Yes, he already completed the Morgiah's wedding quest.
3.) Yes, he has.
5 (where's 4?).) I believe he just started this quest.

Now, because you were level 3, I am further perplexed. The only quests which involve letters at level 3 or below are the following:
Lady Brisienna
Morgiah's Wedding
Mynisera's Letters (starts with Queen Aubk-i AFTER you've completed her first quest to check on Nulfaga)

Prince Helseth's quest (the one known to have a bugged letter) and all others don't begin until you are at least level 4.

The only other possibility is it was from a side quest you were doing for a guild or random person. Very strange, but honestly I wouldn't worry about it as it seems you haven't missed anything important.

Fixed the numbers.

1) Ok, then he also completed Lady Briesenna I would presume since that starts at lvl 1.

2) This is very important to know since every quest on this page can be triggered at level 3. http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Daggerfall:Main_Quest_Backbone

3) Great we know that it isn't Morgiah's wedding.

4) Then it could be the official invitation to Morgiah's Wedding.

5) So its not Mynisera's letters either.
