SoIm super thrilled about daggerfall being released for free, as my disc was lost sometime ago and haven't played it since. I promptly went onto the official site of TES and downloaded it immediately in all its glory. Now however, I am facing problems.

The file says ( upon attempting to extract ) "the archive is either in unknown format or damaged" . "oh ho?" I thought to myself. "That strange, seeing as I downloaded this off the official site of all places" . To add further to my shock, the compressed file now says its only 30.6 mb's big....

I was thinking I might of done something wrong during downloading but surely this cant be the case. Could anyone suggest a remedy or perhaps alink to a mirror site that will offer the download also? Ive tried downloading twice now to no avail, and dont want to again unless i know its going to work otherwise Imwasting broadband.

Keep trying. It's a pretty big file, so lots of things can go wrong. I remember that I didn't get it down until my 5th or 6th attempt.

Sorry for the bump but this is becoming irritating now. Im into my seventh attempt and Im still getting the same "F:/Daggerfall/DFinstall.zip:The archive is either in unknown format or damaged" error message...and Im wondering if Im doing something wrong?

Perhaps I shouldnt be saving it on my external hard drive? Perhaps I shouldnt be saving it within a folder? Its got me stumped, surely I cant just "keep at it" until it works? is there anything I could be doing thats making it play up like this?

Try saving it to just the desktop, make sure that when you monitor its progression, and see if it actually did DL the full file

Aye watching it intently....and trying all sorts of different mirror sites too. Ah well, Ill give it one more go and save to desktop . Damn game doesnt want to work >_>

I got mine from fileplanet and it works fine. Maybe try that one.

Also try out different unzipping programs (WinRAR, Winzip, etc) or try updating the one you're using. Also check to make sure you have enough drive space for the download. If its coming to only ~30 mb every time that might be the issue.

Im currently using winRAR, and the place Im saving it to has more then enough space Ill see if I can update my WinRAR. aside from that the file is downloading fine, Im getting all 145 mb's of the file now...It just wotn let me extract it at all. Ive tried fileplanet, fileshack, and the TES website :/

Are you rounding down, or are you really only getting 145mb? This will drive you mad, but it's a 148mb file, which means you got it perfectly right up to the very end. You should look into getting a download manager. It's a helpful thing to have around outside of just this one purpose.

Aye I was just roudning down :/ Im still downloading the whole file. Its just not letting me extract. Im on a different computer now si lets try it on this one and see if it makes a difference./

I managed to get it first time, however i did use firefox to download it.

IE has trouble downloading large files.
