Daggerfall: WTF did i do? : The Elder Scrolls Series Discussion

so i just got back to daggerfall (the town) from the quest where you have to check on the queens grandma Nulfaga or whatever, and as soon as i leave the castle all these guards come after me and arrest me for "criminal conspiracy" wtf did i do? i didnt do anything illegal in that quest or any of the other quests ive done. has this happened to anyone else?

Have you done anything illegal in general? Sounds to me like you've gotten caught commiting crimes so many times that you've reached the phase where guards arrest you for no good reason whatsoever.

not really as far as i know, i killed a few guards after i got my Daedric Armor but i was found not guilty (courtesy of trial and error) it says on my status thing "in the eyes of the law of daggerfall, you are a criminal" maybe i accidentily killed someone and got banished or something, i dont know. How do i check my reputation? is there anyway i can get unbanished if that is the case? can i play the game without going into the city of daggerfall too often or is it kind of necessary.

even when i go to other towns in Daggerfall the guards follow me. so i decided to take a "Vacation" if you will, i headed to Aikiras desert (SP?) to do some side quests. Will the heat in daggerfall eventually die down, oddly enough, as soon as i arrived i got a letter from the queen of daggerfall saying she admired my "valor" and wanted me to do another quests, apparently the guards dont see it hte same way

Actually, if you've been arrested by the guards several times, there's a chance of your legal reputation ("in the eyes of the law of _____") breaking and going to a ridiculous number like -791463. In which case, not only will everyone hate you, but it'll take an eternity for that reputation to break even at 0 again.

Coincidentally I made a http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=922240&hl= about this some time ago. Turns out our buddy Ferital made a program that can let you negate this. His program, Dagrep can be downloaded http://www.uesp.net/w/images/Dagrep.zip.

NOTE: This is only in the event your reputation is indeed broken and has plummeted to some ridiculous number. If it's something like -4, it'd be more fun to wait it out and do quests to redeem yourself.
