Dagon's defeat in Battlespire

Post » Thu Dec 30, 2010 4:41 pm

Is it possible Dagon got mantled at the end of Battlespire, sure,we are told the realms we go through are merely pocket dimensions of Oblivion, but the last level,Dagon's "Hunting Lodge" seems rather different from all the other places beforehand.Infact,I do believe I saw lava with the terrain which sounds/looks alot similar to his realm in TES 4.Also,if I were Mehrunes(assuming the Hunting Lodge is the main base of his invasion)I'd want to send my lackeys to do the work in the pocket realms, and then do all the destroying once I got to Tamriel.

Also, assuming his hunting lodge is an actual hunting lodge and his primary one,I'd want it in my own realm,or atleast one where the prey will be some kind of challenge. At the end of Battlespire,it does sound like you've defeated him at every turn...so is it possible he got mantled?

What do you think?Am I onto something,or am I talking stupid?

I'm afraid I agree... It might be that *I'm* stupid, but I have no idea what you're saying.

Well, from recently discovered evidence, IE: The Fourth Game, he was doing fine after Battlespire.

You only temporarily destroyed his body and forced him to regenerate in Oblivion..you don't mantle him. He obviously appears in TES IV physically.

Just so I understand where you are at, what do you think "Mantling" is, Akavirguy?

Becoming the daedric prince after defeating him in his own realm?

No, that is not mantling. To put it in layman's terms, if it quacks like a duck, walks like a duck, and swims like a duck, it's a duck.

In a more mythical and cryptic sounding way, the Nu-Hatta gives us this
"The Stormcrown manted by way of the fourth: the steps of the dead. Mantling and incarnation are separate roads; do not mistake this. The latter is built from the cobbles of drawn-bone destiny. The former: walk like them until they must walk like you. This is the death children bring as the Sons of Hora."

The CoC mantled Sheogorath, because he acted as just like Sheogorath, people wouldn't be able to tell the difference. Tiber became Talos because he mimicked the deal with Lorkhan and Akatosh.

, because he acted as just like Sheogorath,

How did he act just like Sheogorath if you don't mind me asking?

Throughout the MQ of SI, Sheogorath was preparing the CoC to take over as him, literally. "Symbols are powerful" is a quote you should keep to heart when dealing with mythical forces. Sheogorath wasn't just merely trying to make you "understand madness." No, he was teaching you how to be madness, even if you didn't realize it.

I understand every word you said and I understood every sentence you made. But I have no clue what you're talking about.

:whistling:

Anyway, quote editing aside, I assume the OP is asking if Mehrunes was defeated in Battlespire and 'mantled' by another being, and became the new mehrunes in IV.

Though, I myself don't know much about the process of mantling.

Just because you wipe the poop of a prince, doesn't mean you mantle it. Hell, Sotha Sil and Alamenxia defeated MD in the first era, and they didn't mantle him.

Oh. Yeah, no. I'd say the closest SI parallel you can draw is that Mehrunes died like the New Sheogorath might and immediately was spirited away to wherever Mehrunes reconstitutes his avatar, likely at the altar of the Font of Destruction. How's that for irony?

Creation/Destruction are both basically the same things. Just matter changing shape. So it's not that ironic.

I'm not sure if I've ever read a less correct statement anywhere about anything.

Matter cannot be created nor destroyed, therefore it only ever changes shape. Concepts like destruction/creation depend greatly on your point of view and on persisting human concepts, holdovers from our limited understanding during the development of society. This may not be true in Tamriel but it's certainly true in the real world.

Who's talking about the real world?

Besides, you're equivocating.
