[REQ] BB Dagoth Ur Replacer

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 10:56 am

That was so I could see how his head was moving with the original skeleton, the head bone's usually just a dot, so I wouldn't be able to see if it's rotating right or not. You should be able to copy and paste the mask straight over in NifSkope, if that doesn't work, I can skin it on.
About the textures, once I've finished the BB and scaled BB versions, I'll be uploading them mainly so other people can play around with it, though I'll make a replacer like that if no one else offers to. ^_^

And Lucien, I'll make an ash vampire one too, just not sure when I'll have time...

I am working on this (as mentioned in the first Melisande's Menagerie thread: http://www.gamesas.com/bgsforums/index.php?s=&showtopic=953001&view=findpost&p=14397460 :D )... :bolt:

Yay! :twirl:

On that note, then, I have a completely off-topic idea. What about Left 4 Dead-style special infected? We already kind of have the Tank with the Lame Corprus, but what about a Smoker, or Boomer, or Hunter, or even a Witch?

Chin up, everyone :D ! The point is that this gets made for those that would enjoy it
(and for those that like to get creative and paint and sculpt to their heart's content).
Lore and accuracy completely aside, there is great fulfillment to be found in the creative
process that has been presented here, so don't get too down on the act of trying to make
everyone happy (this is impossible).

Regardless of what may come, here is something that I have made for creativity and fun's
sake (I will use it if no one else will).

http://i57.photobucket.com/albums/g235/Wesadam/Creatures/WAR_DGTHR_FACE1.jpg (subject to many versions
and alterations/possible playable race, "Children" of Dagoth Ur, or something like that...)

No need for comment; just putting it out there to keep myself motivated :D

Take Care, All

This isn't the first time I've seen disagreements come up over this particular topic and it puzzles me as to why. The beauty of this game is that we have the freedom to modify things as we see fit. Personally I think it's wonderful that there are now at least three versions of Almalexia out there for players to choose from. Four if you count the vanilla version. I know of at least two Vivecs.

I'm hopeful that some day there will be more than one type of Dagoth Ur for us to choose from. For those who prefer the vanilla Dagoth Ur, fine, stick with him. It's your game. If some new versions come to be, I hope there is both a "grungy" type for those who prefer that sort of Dagoth Ur as well as a "sixy" version. Groan all you want. I maintain that Dagoth Ur more than likely has the same power to control his appearance as the Tribunal. For my personal Morrowind world I believe he would have cleaned himself up and put his best foot forward. He probably would not have been able to seduce my Nerevarine otherwise.

As long as we're each enjoying this game, who cares what someone else is using? What someone else in this thread might use does not affect my game one bit. :) Nor does my game affect anyone else.

Just my two cents. To those of you who are all working on this, I really look forward to seeing what you come up with.

Excellent work on the animation Dirnae - I enjoyed watching your clip very much

I've always felt a bit sorry for Dagoth Ur - I think he got a raw deal - so it would be cool to have an updated version available.

Hey everyone sorry for my outburst .... I was already pissed off because of work & let a comment that I usually wouldn't even paid attention to get the better of me.

I am usually quite the fan of more lore/vanilla things, but I would love a BB Dagoth Ur and desperately want Westly's face. *chuckle*

Even though we're not supposed to comment, Westly, I have to say, the face could look a bit... more rugged. I like the version you made for Forest Stalker, even though it's still a "pretty" face. Also, the beard doesn't really look like hair at this point. Still, the concept is good, and I'm looking forward to what you come up with in later tweaks :)

Personally (of course), I like the ancient androgynous look on the particular face that I
have shown (caught between youth and corruption). Truth be told (<--catch
phrase of the week for me), I expected someone to say that that face would
need to be "rugged", "older", or "menacing". Trust me enough to do what I
feel is right and make more versions than the one that is shown (used for my
own Dwemer race as well). The beard is made of braids with the ends wrapped
around coins (so to say it does not look like hair is a bit odd, considering it is,
actually, hair). My style is my style, however, take it or leave it (as I am sure
someone else will come along and make a version that, of course, is not in my
style; though, the fact that one could look at the face and say "Westly made that"
just by viewing it means that I have done my job (stylistically so) :twirl: .

I'll do a few "scary" faces as well (not that one would really see them after I add the mask  )

Ah, point taken. The more I see the face, the more it grows on me, actually :)

As for the beard, I guess I can kind of see the braids, but even knowing that that's what it is, it's really hard to tell. It looks like a pattern of white and black geometric shapes, which is why I said it didn't really look like hair to me  You're right of course- there will be a mask in the way of his face anyway, so I guess the point is moot :P

You're making a Dwemer race? Did I miss that mentioned on the forums somewhere? Or is it a personal mod?

Also, did you have any thoughts on Dagoth Ur's mask?

So many questions, sheesh, sorry Westly!

I personaly like your Dagoth Ur face Westly, I think its fitting to have him NOT look ugly but still look like a monster, sort of the Xerxes charcter from 300

Did a little editing.

Seems like maybe a reminder would be helpful: Mod critiques should be civil and specifically about the mod/replacer/quest whatever. Not about the modder.

I will see what I am able to do further to help better define his beard (I have already added
an overlay on top of the braids of "loose hair" so that it is not so abruptly coming out of the
face. I will make a scary face tomorrow (dark, hollow eyes that glow red). I will also
make it on several head meshes, so that there will hopefully be a choice for all. I made
the body texture before I made the head texture, but I am waiting to make some worn and
tattered "fancy" clothes for him to wear before shoiwing the body in full (and, perhaps,
make a painting of him and add it in as a bonus "end prize", as well as the outfit).

:)

Like my rig in the sig...

The game engine is designed to handle just so much data at a time .... I'm sure a high end system will let you push the envelope but I think past a certain point the game engine will prob get unstable.

do some test for yourself ... its not hard .... create a cell & load it up with stuff..... the CS tells you how many faces there are in a cell

I've updated the previous face a bit (made the eyes smaller and added dark circles
of brown and red to the outer and inner lids with a slight droop [as if he has been
awake for a very long time]; I also finished up his eyebrows [with pointed
ridges along the arch to enhance his devious nature] as well as giving the beard a
bit of brown tone and shading to dirty it up a bit). This version has the ears added
as well as a slight scowl (wheras the expression was previously neutral).

:goodjob: Looks fantastic! I like the scowl (especially since it makes him look more like the Ash Vampires :P), and the dark circles hide the eyelashes somewhat, which was an unspoken issue I had with the original. Looking great: can't wait to see what body you come up with :D

I want to apologize again for showing my butt in this thread .... Obviously the Dwemer stuff is near & dear to Me but that is still no excuse.

I have said many times "the more the merrier" about mods & I don't know why I forgot that on this occasion ... there is definably room for everyone.

@Westly: excellent head there, mate! I just breezed through the thread, so probably this question was answered before: I know he's now too handsome to wear a mask, but maybe he can wear some sort of Dwemer crown/helmet/artifact, something to match his pretty face, but also make him into an, errrr, "Ur"?

Also, brilliant idea of converting him to BB - honestly, in spite of the few problems the BB meshes have, I see no reason that all the Bipedal creatures shouldn't be converted to BB. The stock meshes look like, as my girlfriend put it once, sausages-on-a-wire... They looked OK back in 2002 (although there were already games with better animations), but now they truly look 7 years old (which in computer games scale equals 70 years of RL :D)... I love the new looks of Westly's Almalexia and Vivec, Psymoniser's Azura, etc.: the new Dagoth Ur fits in perfectly with the others!

Keep up the good work, guys, as this replacer, along with a few other mods, will surely compel me to reinstall MW and play it again with a new character! :foodndrink:

Cheers,
PKR.

Oh no you didn't! :ooo:
Completely unrelated jokes aside, he obviously doesn't give a crap about his appearance, so to be fair, he could be wearing anything.

Well than, why would he wear anything at all, he could just wander around completely naked. :D
