[REQ] BB Dagoth Ur Replacer

Post » Fri May 27, 2011 1:48 pm

*coughs* Anyway, there are some wierd distortions with the wrists during some of his animations and shoulders during his laugh idle. I've finished smoothing some of his animations out, I'm gonna try to get rid of these distortions now, it might take a while to get it just right.

Certainly take all the time you need to get it right, Dirnae; the work you have
done so far is ace, so keep it up  !

I had some free time this afternoon so I made a few masks:

(I will make another full mask that is similar to the half mask in
that the face part seems to hug the contours of the face).

I had fun with these, but I am not completely satisfied with them just yet (need to enhance
the rusted elements and decrease the shine just a bit). I might also do another half mask
with the third eye exposed :) .

Whoa, dude, that half-mask is simply brilliant! And having the 3rd eye exposed will only increase its awesomeness! :) Will the face texture have glow mapping? I believe it will be pretty damn scary to meet DU in the dark, with 3 glowing eyes! :D

Indeed, the eyes are glow mapped (hard to tell in the pic with out a reference that
is actually in the dark). I just finished my morning workout, so bear with me if my
thoughts and syntax are a bit scattered. Next up will be an outfit/armour; I am
looking to add a neck piece for sure, but maybe pauldrons as well to "bulk up" his
shoulders. I want to keep most of the elements of his original appearance, just
"jazzed up" a bit :) . Also, as far as the additional helm appearance, I plan on
making one that is more crown like (so that the entirety of the face is exposed.
Of course, this will have to wait 'til later tonight, as I need to get ready for my long
day (gonna be another hot one :nuke: ).

'Til Later

A matching neck piece (egyptian pharaos come to mind) will, indeed, complete the looks in a great way! I'd also suggest a pair of matching bracers (both wrists and ankles) and a loincloth worthy of a god... :)

Wish you a cooler day! :)

The new head is fantastic Westly! Its almost a shame he wears a mask! I Think the half mask looks the best myself...its a nice variation on the origional. I'm having trouble, like others seeing the beard as braided with coins on the end. I like the idea but I just cant see it. It just looks more like he got his beard tips bleached lol. If one of your variations simply makes his beard regular and shaggy I'll just use that version! Keep up the good work! Can't wait to see what you do with his clothes!

edit: looking at the 2 masks again ..I think the full mask could work but would just need a bit of improvement. First of all the texture and design of the half mask is much cooler looking. Second of all, the chin piece of the full mask is simply to short ...to pull the mask down a bit and elongate the beard more would look better IMO ...right now it looks more like a 3quarter mask then a full mask.

The full mask shown is smaller than it actually is as I am only showing the mask
for its own sake, not its actual implementation on the character (so seeing the beard
of the head behind them mask would not be visible when it is actually worn by
Dagoth Ur). What might be presented here by myself is a work in progress, so no
worries, as I have the plans laid out already in detail (painstakingly at that).

(wanders back to lunch... :bolt:)

Before I go on my evening run, I want to work on the rest of the Dagoth Ur's attire,
but I have a quick question; what exactly is the symbol for the Sixth House? I think
it is represented on the original's loincloth buckle, but it is very hard to make out. I
will scour the the Sixth House textures on my own to see if anything reveals itself, but
I thought I would just ask in case anyone knows off-hand :) . I alwyas thought the
symbol was a scarab, but I might be wrong so a second opinion would be great :) .

@Westly
If you mean what written symbol - I believe it's the daedric letter 'O' (stylized upside-down U with a dot inside).

What written symbol? Why would House Dagoth have Daedric lettering as part of its emblem?

What point is there in asking what devices amuse a Dagoth? Resolve to accept and not question why. :D

I want to apologize again for showing my butt in this thread .... Obviously the Dwemer stuff is near & dear to Me but that is still no excuse.

I have said many times "the more the merrier" about mods & I don't know why I forgot that on this occasion ... there is definably room for everyone.

Then you wouldn't mind if someone else made a compatibility patch? :D

I worked on his gear this evening, but am not yet to the point to show additional screens (as there
are still a few touchups and additions that need to be made (like a few finger rings, texturing his claws,
etc...). However, just to have something to show tonight, here is a look at the half-mask with the third
eye opened (in full light and in darker conditions; I also tightened up the mask a bit):

I will try to finish up most of him tomorrow evening so that he can be seen in full (rather than a
disembodied head; he is not the great and powerful OZ, afterall :embarrass: )

Well, off to dreamland for me; Good Night and Good Morning, All

I'm not doubting the work. I'm just saying that if you end up not wanting to do it yourself, I bet a lot of people would be very happy if you let someone else do it.

How do you add a detail map like Westly uses on most of his textures?

That wouldn't be very appropriate, if only for one reason (though there are many others): in Oblivion, the Daedric letter O is practically everywhere in the game...

A nice scarab will fit the tab just fine and stay in sync with the pseudo-Egyptian theme of the outfit (btw, excellent new screenies, Westly!).

Cheers,
PKR.

Wicked cool, man :goodjob:

Are you putting any shine on the mask at all? Just a tiny bit might look good.
Edit: Opps, is the little bit of brighter gold on the mask the shine?
