[REQ] BB Dagoth Ur Replacer

And there is no way to increase the limit?

No ... you can technically add more but the game really gets sluggish real fast ..... I can verify the sluggish part from experience. ....

Is it bad even for high end systems?

The game engine is designed to handle just so much data at a time .... I'm sure a high end system will let you push the envelope but I think past a certain point the game engine will prob get unstable.

do some test for yourself ... its not hard .... create a cell & load it up with stuff..... the CS tells you how many faces there are in a cell

Wait, did I miss something? This thread's topic seems to have taken an utterly arbitrary turn...

The OP wanted to change the topic of the thread toward his/her
more general inquiries, so asked about the "loot bag" and what
have you :) .

I'd rather continue the old discussion, as the new one has been answered countless times before.

Well I just didn't want to waste forum space on another thread. Sorry.

I am still interested in the dagoth topic.

I don't think there's really anywhere left to go with the old topic. Until someone fixes the distortion of the BB model without losing Dagoth Ur's animations, there's not much point in making a replacer.

EDIT: Also, wouldn't a BB Dagoth Ur replacer conflict with Dagoth Ur Voice Addon, since it also edits the model?

That could be fixed. A BB Dagoth Ur replacer would be wonderful and so the Voice Addon could suffer in decreased popularity for all I care.

As I keep saying, Dagoth Ur doesn't need a BB mesh, it would be relatively easy to subdivide certain verticie groups and smooth them in sculpt mod to improve the mesh, and why have BB? It doesn't work for Dagoth Ur anyways, seeing as he's not of the same physicue that a BB mesh would be.

About that plugin, I too don't care, I loved Dagoth Ur's normal voice and although they are cool plugins, I don't like the voice in that mod, plus, a patch could be made to make that plugin use the new mesh.

I'm not a fan of a BB Dagoth Ur but its not that simple to redo the vanilla DU ..... if it was that easy someone would have done it long ago ...... its actually a major pain since the mesh is skinned .... Of course I invite you to prove Me wrong.

Maybe this is old news, but it's something I stumbled upon and it solves one of the problems with a BB Dagoth Ur.

http://i203.photobucket.com/albums/aa289/spaceinvader91/dagothur.jpg?t=1248921000

It occurred to me that the reason that the BB hands are so deformed when applied to Dagoth Ur is because the skeleton for the hand is so radically different. So, I deleted the hands on Dagoth Ur's skeleton and replaced them with the hands off the biped skeleton. The result was hands that actually look normal. The trade-off is that while they move fine, the fingers aren't animated, which means that he can't ball them into fists or waggle his fingers at you. Still, I hope this is a step in the right direction for those who do want a BB Dagoth Ur.

I say, your wrong! http://i31.tinypic.com/qrayqh.jpg.

I'm working on it, the texture needs edits here and there still, since I'm hiding a lot of seams with vertex shading, but the bad looking parts of it aren't bad looking anymore, and it seems to be looking good too with the animations, no huge distortions or anything.

BB means better body, not Better Body ™. If I made a BB nix hound, you could expect, not for a nix hounds head on top of a NPC body, but a redone nix hound body that looked more realistic (or as realistic as a nix hound could ever look  ). I wouldn't necessarily associate BB with Psycho Dog Studios' creation.

Well, that's what everyone was talking about, attaching a Better Bodies mesh to Dagoth Ur.

EDIT: Besides all arguments, what does everyone think of the WIP work on my Dagoth Ur replacer? Nobody has given any feedback yet.

BB is universally accepted to mean \"Better Body ™\". When someone makes a mod with BB in the title, it\'s pretty much a sure bet that it involves the work of Psycho Dog. I know that if I saw a mod called \"BB Nix Hound,\" my first instinct would be some sort of playable race mod.

@SWG- It looks good, but I\'m not wild about the black shadow on his torso. It looks... unnatural.

EDIT: Because I can:

Yes, true, but I was addressing what I meant by BB. I suppose I shouldn't use BB to mean what I would like it to mean and should instead use "replacer" as a catch all. When I think of "BB" I just think of it as a body mesh that is superior to the Vanilla. My bad ya'll.

When your done with it I will mod it to work with DNGDR ... cool

Yeah, some of those shadows are just vertex shading that I'm using to hide seams while I make everything go together, the one on the left side is part of the texture, but it'll be gone soon enough, there's still a great deal of stuff to be done, but right now it's looking good.

Have you put the new mesh ingame yet to see how it looks?

I know sometimes meshes look a little different in game than they do in 3Dmax

This is the DU I have modded for DNDGR version 2 .... the legs & that loin cloth is what bugged me the most about the vanilla model ...... if yours is better I would prob want to use it.

I did this same mod to the Ashvamps ... different textures of course.

It doesn't look bad, but a couple of suggestions (which you can take or leave, obviously)- the first is, the skirt could be a bit shorter. It would look fine if he was wearing a full robe, but as it is only the skirt, it looks kind of silly at the moment. I would say make it more like a kilt, and end it just below the knee. The second thing, is perhaps make it a bit ragged and torn along the bottom? The third is, the skirt alone is fine for the Ash Vampires, who are supposed to be subordinate to him, and ergo have a more plain outfit, but it might be good to add some more details to his top half (I know I've plugged for this idea before, but perhaps a pair of pauldrons?) to balance him out. Still, I like the look, overall. Definitely an improvement over the original :)

I don't think DU would be wearing any kind of armor ..... why would his clothes be ragged?
