Daily andor Weekly

Post » Wed Feb 19, 2014 9:32 am

I am new to MMO's -- about 4 months and I have a max level and end game content in a different MMO. One of the main reason that I play that MMO is to learn about them before ESO is released.

Here is my noob questions on the topic of

having a daily and/or weekly quest(s):

1) Do you as the player like this idea to have those?

2) Do you want something like in ESO?

3) Are they good for the game as a whole?

4) Does it built up relationships with others in the game?

5) Do you like sweetrolls?

1) Well in all honestly daily and weekly quests can get a bit old rather quickly. WoW introduced them to let its playerbase gather gold and farm reputation with factions. But doing the same thing everyday can get boring fast. Also every new patch in MMOs which had dailies contained new daily quests which got rather stale.

2) Depends on how they are implemented . The guild wars 2 system of dailies and monthlies wasnt too bad since you could complete them while doing day to day activities and not have to complete specific quests everyday like in wow . Dailies give a reason for people to log in once a day , like daily dungeon quests for example which reward a special type of currency or extra gold and give u a reason to run dungeons everyday.

3)If ESO can refine the system without making it tedious , i wouldnt mind. But if it forces us to do the same thing regularly, then I would vote no.

4) Yeah in a way , i have fond memories of running some reputation dailies with friends to get through the chore quickly and had some good times on Ventrillo while doing them. Problem in ESO though is the grouping system isnt done very well outside of instanced content.

5) I prefer Skooma.

1. NO

2. NO

3. NO

4. Not needed for that

5. Beer for me

I've played mmos for years and I get used to them, cooldowns and other silly locks. However I like freedom, and I dont like to be shepherded by some game designer who think he knows what I like and how I have to play a videogame.

These mechanics are used and abused to delay or equate players progressions (no matter the amount of time they play). Devs can even use them to set an estimated time of when players will run out of content.

As long as they don't gate stuff we need...then I don't see the problem for others that don't like dailies, they can just choose not to do them.

The only use for dailies is a slow and steady way to gate content. That's it. Reputation, currency, special materials, etc. Anything you can only do once a day is designed to gate something.

It's stupid.

1. No

2. No

3. No

4. Not really. Sometimes it's usefull (Kill a X amout of enemies), it reduce the job that has to be done, but for the most of the time, you're gonna wait for your group members because they are either: slower than you or new to these specific quests and they wanna read/listen to them for once.

5. Are they Nirnroot flavored?I use these roots everywhere. In my mead, under my horse's shoe (It makes him able to climb every mountain, even if there are too abrupt)

I prefer to be involved into a chain quest that leads you somewhere, that a silly repeatable quest.

from this data thus far, it seems they are bad for the game as whole, but need more data to truly say that....
