DAM/DPS for all weapons halved when 'This Machine' is unequi

Post » Fri Jul 02, 2010 1:34 am

While looking at my Pip-boy after leveling up near Freeside, I noticed that the DAM/DPS for every weapon in my inventory was somehow cut in half. I also found that the rifle I was using (This Machine) somehow unequipped itself, showing 0/0 rounds available (though I had many rounds available, it was as if I never equipped it). Upon equipping 'This Machine', I discovered that all DAM/DPS were globally restored to their correct values.

Although, when equipping any other weapon, all of the DAM/DPS values are again reduced by ~50%. This means, I am incapable of wielding any weapon besides 'This Machine' without taking a ~50% DAM/DPS penalty. I've gone back quite a few saves and all of them seem to be affected by this bug.

All EXP allocated to Guns for 22 levels has been negated...

Does anyone have a workaround for this? Has anyone else experienced this?

For example, with 'This Machine' equipped, my Lever Action Shotgun will have (10x7)DAM; without 'This Machine' equipped, my Lever Action Shotgun will have (6.6x7)DAM.

Help!

It appears that this isn't weapon specific, but is some bug involving ammo types.

The ammo of my currently equipped weapon affects the DAM/DPS attributes of all weapons in my inventory. That said, the base DAM/DPS values are still much lower than they were multiple levels ago. What is happening?!

I hope someone can make sense of this.

I don't believe it's ammo specific. I have the same issue with my ammo modifying the damage of my unequipped weapons also. I believe that effect is part of the game's engine. As for your massive damage loss, check your perks and your current effects. Maybe something happened that you didn't notice or forgot about. Honestly though, I can't think of anything that would lower it that badly.
