PC Damage Voice Location

Hello, I have a question about the sounds the PC makes when he/she gets hit by an enemy attack. Where do you go in the CS to find these settings?

Dialogue->Voice -> Hit. The player uses the same hit audio as other members of their race and six.

Hmmm, can I not take creature sounds (say a Dremora) and apply them to a race (Male Breton)? Or is it that the creature sounds are incompatible with character voices?

NPC audio is 64kbps .mp3. Creature audio is a WAV. You'd only need to convert the audio into an .mp3, but creatures have fewer audio lines than NPCs.

Yeah, what I was trying to do was give a simple hit detection voice to a Golden Saint playable race mod that I downloaded a while ago. I wanted to use the Saint creature voice already provided because of its other worldly sound. Ended up using the Nord Female vampire voice and I'm fairly happy with it.

Why not just convert the audio?

So, not every wav file would work (I don't have my PC with me atm, I can't check creature wavs atm).

I could, I suppose. Any recommendations on free sound file conversion software?

I just use Audacity, but I think you need a plugin to export as an .mp3.

Ok, so I got the Golden Saint files converted to MP3 using Audacity (thanks Prince Shroob!) and plugged them into the Golden Saint Race I'm messing with. Didn't work. I read the the thing about the game only recognizing 44100Hz rate and upon changing the files to that rate, it made the sound wonky.

I told ya :P.

I've tried to save my recording as morrowind voice mp3 (with all settings) using Audacity and it doesn't work either. It appears Morrowind's mp3 has slightly different file structure than exported by audacity (iirc).

I've tried this converter from linked topic. Probably original wavs wouldn't work as input file needs to be 44,1kHz 32 bit float. Maybe opening them in audacity and saving as wav with those settings, then converting with this converter I've quoted would do the trick.

What folder do I put that converter in? Do I put it in Audacity or do I put it in Morrowind?

Doesn't matter. Only one thing that's matter, you need to have wavs in the same folder.

So if I'm understanding you right, I put the wavs I'm wanting to convert in a folder and then start the conversion plugin. Next I send them to Audacity and convert them into MP3 files and export them back to the Morrowind folder?

Well, only thing you need to do is putting wavs you need to convert in folder with converter, then run mp3encode.bat. It will convert files to mp3 you can copy back to Morrowind folder..

So you are saying I don't need Audacity at all? Please forgive my constant questions, I'm just trying to understand this.

Atm yes, if you are using this converter, you don't need Audacity. Unless you want to record something using your mic.
And, I'm not mad, you want to know after all, don't you? ;]
