damn psn can i LAN brink?

Despite whether the PSN is actually in full flow or not by the time the game releases I do hope that there is the option for LAN. A few games still have it - the most recent to my mind being CoD:BO. Borderlands also had a LAN ability as well as some of the older shooters (R6V,R6V2, and I'm sure a few others that I haven't played.)

If there isn't a persistent leaderboard or something then since on the PS3 it will be peer to peer servers I can't see any reason why it's not possible.

As for why I would like a LAN option, sometimes we have issues playing 'online' via PSN even when we're all on the same LAN in the same room. We meet about every two months or so to get some old school LAN action in.

As mentioned, as long as it doesn't really affect any sort of online rank system I don't know why it would be purposely excluded. (Dev time/costs excepted.)

I'm surprised people on this forum are acting like they can never play games again. Maybe it's because they have mostly shooter games (which are mostly multiplayer)?

Um, last I checked, many games have a single-player mode---and there are many single-player games (or games with single-player story mode or something) out there, too. And some games have replay value (but that really depends on the type of game you get, lol).

Then again, it maybe just me, since I've always played single-player all of the time (LittleBigPlanet 2 was my first brief online experience EVER and Brink will be my first shooter to play online EVER, too).

I've got many, many older games to finish or replay or collect items, or do create modes, etc, too. iNFAMOUS, LittleBigPlanet 2, Killzone 2, Bayonetta, Elder Scrolls games (which will never be finished ever at this rate with additional expansion packs and mods, lol!), play local co-op (you know, with real people next to you, lol) on Borderlands, Portal 2, Gears of War games, Kirby: Epic Yarn, SuperSmashBros. Brawl/Melee, etc. Plus, there are many other old games that I never got to play due to M-ratings when I was younger or didn't have access to at the time (Killer 7, etc.).

this for the most part. Mainly cause up until recently, i didn't have the internet on a daily basis, still not strong enough to run games with a decent amount of uplink to the internet, always got that red bar next to my name when I'm looking at (or other people are looking at) my tag on the scoreboard for the game I'm currently in. the next best bar if I'm lucky x.x

But PSN comes on in a few hours apparently so maybe I'll be able to dl a few things for free that usually aren't (if I'm lucky with my connection).

Hello. . .I highly recommend you play Bayonetta ASAP. Quite possibly one of the greatest games and storylines of all time NO DOUBT!

I've got a PS3 myself and this downtime is pissing me off as well. I am an online gamer with the exception of stellar Single-Player RPG games like the Elder Scrolls series. My solution to the PSN being down is to say [censored] the PS3 and buy BRINK for the PC.
