Dancers in Skyrim

Post » Sat Oct 25, 2014 6:00 am

I remember going to Suran in Morrowind and I noticed they had dancers in the game. Not with good graphics.

But it was at Deseles House of Earthly Delights.

So my main question. Why was such a feature not included in Oblivion or Skyrim?

With graphics in Skyrim it would have been cool. But no show. I was disappointed that we were not given the opportunity to see this again in yet a more recent TES game.

I have no idea. I've wondered the same thing myself over the years. If I had to hazard a guess I'd say that the "racier" content we saw in earlier games was removed to avoid trouble from demagogue politicians and hyper-litigious parents.

I am wondering the same thing myself. All The Elder Scrolls video games should have dancers.

*gasp*

You want... earthly delights in an M-rated game? Think of the children!

Development priorities, and probably because they just didn't care enough about the dancers to put some in every game. It's not like they're a tradition, like sweet rolls.

Doubt it has anything to do with politics - isn't Morrowind rated T?

Nah, it's rated M for things like decapitations.

I miss the dancers too, they added some character to the games. But then, Skyrim is pretty damn cold...

There were dancers galore in Daggerfall and Desele was a Breton. Maybe it's a Breton custom that hasn't become that popular outside High Rock and Iliac Bay.

Morrowind is rated T. There's a good chance it would have gotten an M today though.

As far as things like Deseles House of Earthly Delights is concerned, worries over the rating probably had something to do with it, but more likely it's a simple case of nobody thought to put something like that in at the time. I mean, it does alter the tone and it's possible that it never really matched up with the tone they were going for anywhere. Might fit in Markarth or possibly the slums in Windhelm. Maybe a dancer or two in Castle Volkihar. But those are pretty much the only locations where it would seem natural for such such a thing to be tolerated. And Sanguine's little party of course. It would actually be kind of expected there, so it's a little disappointing that all you got was a bunch of guys sitting at a table.

Well, there is one dancer in Oblivion, in Sheogorath's palace, after the main quest is finished. Probably pretty disappointing if one is thinking of the House of Earthly Delights, though. :)

Oh yeah, I completely forgot about her. But yeah, if there had been better graphics like Skyrim, than it would be worth it, since there are some pretty pixaled Nord women. :D
