Danish gamereactor magazine

Post » Sat Feb 19, 2011 6:20 am

I got the Danish magazine yesterday and I was kinda disappointed by the little info we got. There was a VERY nice picture though of a very foggy landscape and some trees and a lake. The fog looks awesome!
The most exciting news in this magazine is them talking about level-scaling. There are NONE! and I qoute "Ingen level-scaling". Ingen = no. I dont know if you guys already knew that, but I didnt. Let me qoute the text below the headline: "Now different enemies raise their level in different rate/speed, and different areas and creatures/beings have a seperate level-cap". This is my translation of the subject on level-scaling.

Very good news, indeed. I miss the feeling of challenge and noobness, now I've got it back. Awesome news! Gode Nyheter.

There's already a topic on the first page of the forum... http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1165813-gamereactor-nordic-magazine-arrived/page__pid__17148911#entry17148911

Edit: the op of the other thread didn't mention anything about the level scaling. He said there was no new info. Are these the same mags his is the norway gamereactor?

Yes but thats the Norwegian one. I also thought that the topic was more about level-scaling and that it deserves its own topic :)

Uh, it sounds to me like they are contradicting themselves by claiming there is no level scaling, and then giving you details on how the level scaling works. I'm guessing what they're really saying is that the idea of global level-scaling has been dropped, and instead level-scaling localized to regions have been adopted. In my book that's an even better move than ditching level scaling altogether. Some measure of level scaling is probably necessary for the open world, free form exploration to work adequately after all.
