[idea] Dante's Inferno

Post » Tue Nov 02, 2010 4:35 pm

I just recently played the game of Dante's Inferno at my friend's house, and it was awesome! The level design was amazing, with beautiful (beautifully disgusting) scenery. I was thinking that this would make a great mod for Oblivion, where you have to take on the 9 circles of hell. Each circle would be a (relatively) small worldspace with a town in it. Upon entering each circle, you would enter the first town. At each town, there would be a main quest to take you down to the next circle, along with several side quests. However, the real beauty of this mod would be the unique landscape and scenery of each circle. Each circle would also contain a few unique monsters, along with one boss that you must defeat. The main quest would be that you have to rescue a loved one who Lucifer is holding (like in the game). Also, you would be able to travel between Cyrodiil and hell freely.

Yes I'll work on this, seems simple enough, give me two weeks and it should be done.

I wasn't asking for anyone to work on this. I just thought to post it out there because I thought it was a cool idea.

Why base it off the game and not the poem? the poem exceeds the awesomeness of the game ten-fold.

Well, I was thinking more basing the visuals off the game. I thought the visuals and environment in the game were great. Something like the Glutton (from gluttony), would be absolutely essential.

Im all for that. But perhaps the storyline could be more poem-based. But I support this mod no matter what.

So, you enjoyed the Dante's Inferno game. Great. Why on earth would you want to then recreate it inside of another game?

We heard you like games, so we put Hell in your Tamriel so you can burn while you learn.
I don't know why? Ask all of the people who recreated WoW items into Oblivion. Ask the people who want to recreate Avatar into Oblivion

Creating items is one thing. Importing an entire game is another.

Avatar is no less realistic of a hope, but the idea at least has the merit of wanting to make an interactive game out of a favorite movie. (I've gathered there aren't really many lovers of Avatar the video game out there.)

But, recreating Dante's Inferno the game inside of Oblivion? What's the payoff for the insane amount of hard work? I mean, I can just play the Dante's Inferno game, right? The OP liked it.

I think it's not about recreating the game, but about giving the player an opportunity to experience the visual style through the quest medium in Oblivion

Well, that was disappointing.
I wasn't even aware of a game...
Indeed a Dante's Inferno in the Elderscrolls universe would be amazing.
